HyperMesh
New Features and Enhancements
Connectors
 A new option has been added to the spot connectors. It uses normal direction of the closest link
to determine links. In certain situations with many small component patches like rib patterns,
wrong links were identified. With this option activated, the link determination follows a search
direction.
 For certain CWELD types the option “centered quad” has been added. If activated, a centered
quad is created on both sides of the CWELD around the projection points. The mesh is very
locally remeshed to satisfy this request. The quad size can precisely be defined.

HyperGraph
Resolved Issues
 In polar plots, the phase angle will no longer change when the reference value for magnitude is
unequal to 1 for dB-scaled curves.
 When different start- and end- index values are used in the same session, using the BuildPlots
panel to trim the curves during import of the curves could have been empty.

LS-Dyna Interface

corner data.
 Unexpected hang of HV when model file or h3d contains assembly information with circular
referencing (e.g. Assembly 1 is both parent and child of Assembly2).
 Issue with HyperView running separate concurrent sessions on a multiple GPU system under a
Linux system was fixed. This also resolves issues with Display Manager running HyperView with
multiple concurrent sessions.

HyperGraph
Resolved Issues
 In complex plots the conversion from real/imaginary to phase/magnitude for db-scaled complex
curves with a reference value will calculate the correct magnitude.
 Notes attached to dB-scaled complex curves no longer disappear at the moment a reference
value is assigned to the dB-scaling.
 Notes which are attached to a dB-scaled phase/magnitude complex curve with a reference value
now show the corresponding y-axis value when the expression {y} is used and no longer the
unscaled source value.
 Notes attached to the magnitude of complex curves will keep their attachment point when a
session is saved and reloaded.
 Complex curves based on math references for dB-scaled curves with a reference value were
scaled twice in previous builds. This issue is fixed.
 In the Build Plots panel, the pop-up window for X-requests now supports the same filter
features as for Y-requests.
 Performance for reader metadata support, which is required to use the Comparison and/or
Highlight Source Entity tools has been improved for files which contain millions of
curves. Specifically:
o For files with less than 300,000 metadata sets, we read the metadata in by default
o For files with more than 300,000 metadata sets we do not read metadata.
o If the user wants to read the metadata for files with more than 300,000 metadata sets,
or skip the reading totally the limit can be adjusted by setting an environment variable
HG_METADATA_LIMIT = <limit number of metadata sets>. There will be a performance
penalty if this setting is utilized with a higher limit.
o For HyperGraph 14.0 we intend to make this environment variable obsolete.
 In 13.0, when saving a template after reading a Dyna file that had labels for IDs, both the label
and ID information would be saved in the template file. This caused overlay issues, since the
template tried to match both Label and ID. The behavior has been reverted back to the pre-
13.0 behavior, wherein only the Label information, and not the actual ID, is saved in the
template. The ID now gets added as an attribute of the curve as metadata.

HyperWorks Desktop 13.0.114 Release Notes 5

o If the user wants to load a session/report created with the 13.0 default setting into
13.0.113 he has either set the environment variable DYNA_REQUEST_TYPE to NAME_ID
or delete the ID’s manually out of the requests in the session/report file.

 Video Overlay Enhancements:

Significant improvements have been made to the video overlay (Image Planes) functionality in this
release of HyperView. It is now possible to achieve a good overlay of Model and Video/Image by a
multiple point alignment scheme or by providing the properties of the camera that was used to
capture the image.

The multi-point alignment method has been added as a new tab under the 2D Image Plane section
and it works by allowing the user to pick points (pairs of pixels in the image and corresponding
nodes in the model). A minimum of seven points are required as input. It is also recommended that
points are picked at different depths and preferably towards the center of the image/video. The GUI
will show a dynamically updating error value to indicate to the user the quality of the selected
points. HyperView will then use the points to adjust the model size and orient it in the appropriate
view so that a good alignment is achieved between the model and the image/video.

In addition to the multi-point alignment method, one can also now input the camera position and
camera properties such as focal length, sensor height, if it is available, through the views entity in
the browser. This provides a more direct way of achieving alignment between model and image. A
new projection type under views called Lens has been added for this purpose.
