Here then is the possible scenario for the quintet's entire contribution.

1. Clarinet - The Mending Song (clarinet part included)

2. Oboe - Las Mañanitas (verse on melody TBD)
3. Flute - Edelweiss (verse on melody TBD)
4. Bassoon - Schubert's An Den Mond (verse on melody TBD)
5. Horn - TBD - I'll figure it out with Georgina
6. Quintet - Homeland
7. Quintet - Hope For Resolution
8. Quintet - 1 or 2 additional pieces without choir

The one medley will be fine, Kathryn let me know about it.

1. is a recording of Homeland with a variation of the existing Brass parts. The

quality isn't great, but tempos are pretty much there.
1. Attached is the full score with my very initial notes regarding voicing. In
general, the following is what I have assigned. You'll notice that I've
bracketed areas where I'd like instruments to play different parts. Let me
know if you think this looks reasonable and I'll make up their individual
parts and transpose (keys and/or octaves) where necessary.
 Flute reads Trumpet 1
 Clarinet reads Trumpet 2
 Oboe reads Trumpet 3
 Horn reads Trombone 1
 Bassoon reads Trombone 3
2. HERE is Hope for Resolution. See my notes below from March 8 regarding how
we might work this arrangement.
3. HERE is Las Mañanitas. I've highlighted the attached score to indicate where I
think it would be nice for the oboe to contribute. 95% of it is one of the vocal
lines, typically harmony while the choristers sing melody. The oboe would start
on the repeat of measure 4. Instead of hearing the choir sing the second verse, it
would be an oboe solo.
o Does the oboist need his part separated for this piece, or will he do fine
reading from this score?
4. I don't have a recording of the Mending song or of the particular arrangement of
Edelweiss. My colleague, Margie Orem, is the one directing those pieces and
she was a clarinetist in a past life so she's making a recording herself to send.
5. I've attached Anvil Chorus for Bassoon's possible involvement, but I haven't had
time yet to identify exactly what would work. Unfortunately this is a terrible
arrangement, but it is a compulsory piece for a festival we're participating in this
summer so my kids need to learn it regardless.
o At first glance, he could join the piano in some capacity from the opening
through 9 and 38 through 47, also joining the choir on the chorus, 24-38
and 62-end. Tacet during the verses 10-23 and 48-61. I would have to do
a little arranging. I'd be happy for the bassoonist to take a look and make
his own suggestions, it could be good practice for him.
