The power of movies

What is your life movie? Do you believe in the power of movies? A movie

moves people's mind in just a few hours. It changes people's minds, thoughts,

and lives. It may be a positive direction or a negative direction. It is important

and certain that the direction affects in either direction. For example, films that

deal with historical facts invite us to the time when we have not experienced the

time. It allows us to experience, realize, and remember it. In addition, movies that

show the weak people of society change our perception. It changes the

misconceptions and prejudices we have in the past. Also, It makes you look right

and gives you the right values. In addition to this, we also show our sad reality. It

shows this age of pursuing only their own interests. We express our sad

institutions and situations by video and let us face the problem. That is how we

make time for reflection and gain enlightenment. Many movies show true value.

What is true love, what is true teaching, and what is true learning? We also learn

those things through movies. Thus, the film has a great influence on us. I am

going to talk about some influential movies from now on. What movies are there?
 First, there is a movie called "Innocent Witness (2019 release)" among

Korean movies. This is the story of a lawyer, Sonho and the only witness, Jiwoo,

to prove the innocence of a murder suspect. Jiwoo is an autistic child. For the

sake of reality, Sunho abandons his beliefs and adapts to reality. The promotion

was more important to him than the truth of the matter. So Sun-ho, who moved

to a large law firm, will take on the case where the promotion took place. Sun-ho

tries to use Jiwoo, the only an important witness in the case, to make his

situation more favorable. At first, he approached Jiwoo with the idea of using her

and tried to learn about autistic children. However, Sunho became closer to Jiwoo

as he understood Jiwoo. Then they face each other in court. Jiwoo has an

excellent memory, and stands as a witness, remembering the criminal's

conversation at the time of the incident. And in the end, the truth takes Jiwoo's

side. Sun-ho also quit his defense and tries to prove Jiwoo's words' reliability.

This is how the movie ends. This film asks us, " Don't you think God is mistaken

about autistic children?" It solves the ignorance, misunderstanding, and prejudice

we had over autistic children. I also watched this movie and I came up with a
classmate friend in high school. She was also an autistic child. At the time, her

unfamiliar behavior was understood through the film. On the other hand, I

reflected on myself that I did not understand my friend at the time. The friend

painted the picture well. My friends have excellent talents in the field of art, as Ji-

woo has excellent observing ability and memory in the movie. I realized that the

extraordinary ability to overcome ordinary people in a toxic field is one of the

characteristics of autistic children. So the movie tells us what we did not know,

and it changes the wrong thing.

Next, I want to talk about "Witness (2018 release)" among Korean movies.

This is a story about a murder that happened in the middle of an apartment

complex in the middle of the night. It deals with murder, a common material in

movies, but it is never normal. At night when everyone is asleep, the main

character, Sanghoon goes out to the terrace. He witnesses the murder. He

wanted to report to the police but encountered the killer's eyes, and the

murderer counted the floors of Sanghoon's apartment with his fingers. When

Sang-hoon thought about the safety of himself and his family, he was afraid to
report it to the police. The next day, an investigation into the murder began and

no one answered. Sanghoon also dodged questions from police officers. A young

woman who tries to open her mouth about an incident is killed by a murderer.

Everyone knew this fact and pretended not to know it. Sang-hoon, however, goes

to the police station to prevent further damage that will occur as the criminal

continues to wander around the apartment. He opens his mouth with confidence

to protect his family. Unfortunately, the murderer who came to the family more

quickly than the police is lucky to save his life after the dramatic situation. After

that, the chase between Sang-hoon and the killer began, and the situation ended

when unexpected downpours and landslides hit the village on the mountain they

climbed. The last scene of this movie gives us a big bitterness. Sanghoon's family

decided to move to trauma. On the last night, Sanghoon screams, "Help me, save

me!" in the middle of the apartment complex where the murder took place. he

does not see anyone in the apartment complex where dozens or maybe

hundreds of people live. The last scene of the dark and silent darkness of the

movie, which was a series of thrilling scenes, left us cluttered, and a long afterlife
felt sorry for this time of thinking only about me and only my family. If we think

we have some damage to ourselves, we ignore the truth I watched this movie

and looked back on whether I had lived a selfish life, and decided I wouldn't be

the only one to think about it.

Lastly, it is a movie called 'The Dead Poet Society (1990 release)' among

foreign movies. The film begins with a new semester opening ceremony of the

prestigious Welton Academy of America. John Keating, who is from this school, is

appointed as a new English teacher. From the first time, Keating teacher shouted

'Carpe Diem' and gave a fresh shock to students with an exceptional method of

teaching. Neil calls the Keating teacher 'Captain' and follows the circle of 'Dead

Poet Society'. Neal and his friends, in violation of strict school rules, participate in

circles and feel a little bit of 'true life' through Keating teacher. This movie has

made many people feel heartfelt and impressed. “seize the day”, “You're also

going to be a poem.”, “You have to believe in the uniqueness of your beliefs.”

There are a lot of famous phrases in the movie. These famous words gave many

people a challenge and a touch. And for me, of course. What did this movie do
to our minds? And what did this movie want to tell us? True learning, showing

true life. This movie is quite old, but it is enough to make us feel alive in this era.

Also, the movie that deals with the value of life seems to have nothing to do with

nationality.

How is it? Like "Innocent Witness," the film corrects our

misunderstanding and points to the sad reality of our society like "Witness."

Sometimes we find the real value we need to find, like The Dead Poet Society.

And we come out of the theater with the things we saw and learned through it in

mind. Someone may come out with a new mind, vowing to make a warm world.

As I said above, movies do not necessarily have a positive effect. Sometimes it is

too distorted to tell the wrong thing. Also, movies that are too high often make

us uncomfortable. But what I want to talk about is that I hope that the movie will

be as influential as it is. To do that, first of all, I hope many good movies are

made and I can see many good movies. I also hope that we will have an eye to

find good things when we watch a movie. The ability to tell bad movies is more

important than the eye to see them. I think the influence of movies will grow as
we move from the analog era to the digital age and into the future. I hope that

that influence is good, please. Lastly, I hope I can learn the past, recognize the

present and change the future through movies. I expect and believe in the power

of movies.
