we will be providing our evidence with the book ​Enrique's journey.

To begin with, ​immigration is not good for the migrants themselves.To be

exact, migrants can get injured.For example, migrants can fall off of a
train.According to Sonia Nazario, “Three cars away, a boy, twelve or
thirteen years old, has managed to grab the bottom rung of a ladder on a
fuel tanker, but he can not haul himself up.”This shows that, migrants can
get terribly injured or even get killed.In conclusion, immigration is not good
for the migrants themselves.

Kristyn Gonzalez :​ However on the other hand, ​immigration is good for

the migrants themselves.To be precise, migrants can help their family
economically.For instance, migrants can help family back home to be able
to get food and a house to sleep in.according to Sonia Nazario, “Money
from Lourdes helps Enrique, and he realizes it”(Pg.35)Therefore, migrants
can help their families economically.In conclusión, immigration is good for
the migrants themselves.

Anderzon Rosales :Great point Kristyn!Now let’s move on to the next

question:Is immigration good for the countries from which they are
migrating?​Immigration is not good for the countries from which
they are migrating.To be precise,parent migrants and their children end up
having a bad relationship.For example, when parents migrate and leave
their children behind, their children grow angry at their parents for leaving
them behind.According to Sonia Nazario, “They accuse their mothers of
lying to them when they promised to quickly come back to their home
countries or send for them.”This shows that parent migrants have a bad
relationship with their children.Therefore, immigration is not good for the
migrants’ home countries.

Kristyn Gonzalez : True but ​Immigration is good for the countries from
which they are migrating.Specifically migrants can send money to their
family or friends that live in Central America . For example when Enrique
goes to the united states he will send money to Belky and Maria Isabel .
According to Sonia Nazario she says, “He sends money to Belky and to
Maria Isabel in Honduras” (165). As a result this shows that migrants can
send money to family that live in Central America and help improve their
lives. This shows that immigration is good for the countries which they are
migrating from.

Anderzon Rosales : Finally lets talk about another question some of

us don’t consider :Is immigration bad for the U.S and its citizens?
Immigration is bad for the U.S and its citizens. To be exact the government
spends a lot of money to send undocumented immigrants to jail. For
example, the government pays about 21,264 dollars per night per jail to
keep immigrants in jail. According to Sonia Nazario, “ the county receives
nearly $85 per day from the government to hold immigrants an average of
$21,264 per night.” Therefore the government spends more money just for
jails that they could use for youth shelters or schools. Overall immigration is
bad for the U.S.
Kristyn : ​Immigration is good for the United States and its citizens.To be
precise, immigrants are good for the United States because they helped
the economy.For example, when immigrants pay taxes the money goes to
the government. According to Sonia Nazario to her “immigrant labor is the
engine the helps drive the american economy”. This shows that the
immigrants give money by working hard and paying taxes. This is why
immigrants are good for the United States.
