Do you recall a few
years back when the Mass
was revised, and we
started saying
“consubstantial” - a
tongue-twisting word that
was hard to say and even
harder to understand.
Today, consubstantial
easily rolls off our tongue
each time we recite the
Creed. Webster’s definition of that word, “of the same
substance,” can actually give us insight into the Trinity.
We might think of our bodies and how our head, hand
and foot are all different, but sill parts of the same
body.
If we were sculpting an image of the Trinity, the
Father, Son and Spirit would all be formed from the
same clay. All three persons are uniquely different,
but still consubstantial. ~ Deacon Dick Folger
PLEDGE CARDS
A reminder to prayerfully consider completing or
renewing your pledge and returning the card to the
office. A note of thanks to those who have returned
their pledge cards - this will be helpful in planning and
managing our finances. Pledge cards are also in pews.
ANNOUNCING SUMMER WEEKENDS MASS
SCHEDULE TIME CHANGE
During the summer months, with people on vacations
and many off to cottages, all 3 weekend Masses are not
as well attended as they usually are, even with visitors
attending. For JULY AND AUGUST ONLY
(including Aug 31/Sept 1 weekend), we will have the
usual Saturday evening Mass however only ONE
Sunday morning Mass at 10:00 a.m. Mass intentions
that have already been booked on those weekends
will be revised.
ARE YOU REGISTERED IN OUR PARISH?
If you are new to the parish or have been attending
Mass here, ensure that you are registered by completing
the tear off section at the front of this bulletin. Please
do not take for granted that you are registered in the
parish, just because you attend Mass here. In the
future, should you be in need of a pastoral letter
(godparent, school, sponsor for confirmation, teacher
referral, etc.), it would be difficult to issue one if you
are not formally registered with the parish.
Living Faith
Over the years, you may have picked up a compli-
mentary copy of the Living Faith Daily Catholic
Devotions that were available quarterly in the parish.
After 25 years of generous giving, to all the parishes
in the Diocese, Andy & Helen Hendriks will bring
this ministry to a close as they are no longer able to
keep up with the demands of distribution across the
Diocese. We are blessed to have Andy & Helen as
long time members of our parish and wish to acknow-
ledge them and our gratitude for their generosity over
the years.
BLESSING OF FATHERS AND
GRANDFATHERS ON FATHER'S DAY
Father of Jesus, we give you thanks for the many
gifts you have given us; the gift of life, the gift of those
who love us.
We thank you today for the gift of our fathers and
grandfathers.
We give thanks for our fathers and Grandfathers who
have died and for the unique way they have revealed
for us your love.
We ask that you Bless them and keep them in your
care until the time comes for us to join them in your
Kingdom.
We ask your Blessing upon the fathers and
grandfathers who are unable to be with us here today.
May they know how much we love and care for them.
We pray for fathers who have given their children up
for adoption, loving their children so much that they
have shared the gift of their child with those who could
better care for them and their needs, and give them a
secure home.
We ask your blessing upon and pray for adoptive
fathers, that they may always know their special role of
being a true father, a revelation of God's love for their
children.
We ask your blessing upon fathers who have lost
children through stillbirth, crib death, accident and
tragedy, that they may have our continuing strength and
courage. Amen.
PREAUTHORIZED DEBIT (PAD) is offered for our
Mortgage Debt Reduction. If you are interested in
using this convenient way to make your offerings to the
church, please complete the card found in the pews and
return it to the parish office either directly or through
the collection basket. These donations are processed
once a month, on or about the 15th of each month.
