Dear Concerned Stem Cell Scientists and Doctors:

IT'S NO SECRET THAT CSN FUNDED A PORTION OF THE TOTALLY AUTONOMOUS

SUBJECT DOCU-SERIES
To be clear, Cell Surgical Network (CSN) has helped to fund a portion of this important docu-
series. Bobby and Sara Sheehan were passionate about making this project to be all inclusive
about all aspects – pharmaceutical, academic and even clinical – of the current state of affairs in
regenerative medicine. However, no effort whatsoever was made to control their production, which
is solely theirs.

INTERVIEWS DIVERSE AND OBJECTIVE

All of the interviews were well made, make a good, solid presentation to represent a diverse variety
of endeavors and positions. Indeed, the issues around CSN and Comella dealt with the FDA
lawsuit. All of the participants that hate the idea that CSN/Comella are involved should relish that
their segment is painted under the legal disagreements that exist between the FDA and clinical
practitioners. It should only make your segment look that much more credible and important unless
you believe otherwise.

“DROPPING OUT” PERMISSABLE KNEE JERK REACTION

Personally, I think a lot of the participants who want to drop out know little and/or nothing about the
work CSN has been doing worldwide. They do not know about some of the amazing basic science
research we have funded, nor do they know about the hundreds of patients that we have treated at no
cost and hundreds at markedly reduced rates including dozens of patients that have had multiple
deployments at no charge themselves. CSN and Comella have simply been libeled in the press but
have been fighting back because frankly, our attorneys believe the FDA has violated our and our
patient’s Constitutional rights with little regard for the writing of unscientific, arbitrary and
capricious regulations to keep a simple surgical procedure from disturbing the plans of entities with
their own self interests - in many instances making or suggesting false criticism.

NO APOLOGIES FOR BEING REASONABLY COMPENSATED FOR MEDICAL SERVICES

PROVIDED
Recently, one doctor referred to CSN as a “for profit” company as though there is a pejorative
associated with obtaining pay for a delivered service. Being paid for providing healthcare and
helping patients is perhaps the noblest form of service. Doctors that started CSN were successful
and well respected in their specialty practices before becoming involved in personal cell therapy and
had their multi-specialty approach to caring for their patients during these investigative years been
fruitless, they would have disbanded years ago. To be clear for all of our colleagues, we have no
product for sale, only a simple surgical service that can provide personal cell therapies that have been
done while collecting data on over 12,000 patients in a HIPAA compliant online database. All
patients and their procedures are documented online and are given automatic follow-ups so they are
free to make any statements they want about their responses to cell therapies. In over 8 years we have
simply learned there is no drug as safe as your own personal cells. Efficacy is largely determined by
the state of illness or injury.

WE STAND ON THE OBJECTIVE RESULTS OBTAINED

I can only speak for CSN and let you know that we base our program on an incredibly safe minor
surgical procedure that hundreds of our affiliate colleagues can recapitulate. We strive for a
multispecialty approach to caring for our patients and our singular mission is to advance regenerative
cell surgery for our patients. We recently completed our 6th Annual Cell Surgical Conference where
we have doctors and scientists present from a variety of different disciplines that may challenge our
own. We do not screen out our competition as so many other groups do and we have long
encouraged exploring and understanding regenerative modalities from a wide variety of scientists and
physicians in an open ecumenical approach. If a better approach to caring for our patients surfaces
that will be the direction we follow. Right now, personal cell therapy has shown to be terribly safe
and very effective in a number of different conditions. But we look forward to working with
physicians in the clinic and scientists in the lab to continue to advance this promising new field.

THE DOCU-SERIES IS AN OBJECTIVE COLLABORATIVE REVIEW WELCOMING ALL

The Sheehans have spent countless hours traveling and meeting with so many wonderful
contributors, have put together a terrific project and we appreciate all those who participated to make
their stories known. All of you have been great contributors to regenerative medicine, deserve to be
heard, and are not belittled by appearing in a series that has CSN participating (even if you think
otherwise). Regenerative cell therapy will move forward OUT after CSN wins its lawsuit with the
FDA.

Bobby and Sara Sheehan have advised us that they need to take out those of you who have requested
they do so. I am asking you to reconsider, but if not, they will honor your wishes.

Collegially yours,

Mark Berman MD, FACS
