Science Museum Force and Motion

A force is either a push or pull. You push thing away from you and you pull things towards you.

A force both has magnitude and direction, making force a “vector quantity”. It can be measured in the
SI unit from Newtons and represented by the symbol F.

When forces are mentioned as pushes and pulls, this can provide understanding for describing forces.
That’s why I mentioned that in the first sentence

If you mention force, you can think of much different

things: The army FORCE, force as hurting someone, the
FORCE in Star Wars, force as strength, Force as in power
and force as in gravity. Gravity may be the most known
forces, and most fitting force in this information
document.

Gravity

Gravity is everywhere. Sometimes its less then other times. On the moon its less, on earth its much. If
something falls fast , this means that there is much gravity, if it falls slowly or doesn’t, there is no or
very little gravity.

So basically Force is:

A push and a pull can cause movement

Work: Using force to move an object.

Push: A force to move something away.

Pull: A force to move something towards you.

Gravity: A force that attracts objects towards each other.

Magnetion: A force that pulls metals towards a magnet

Translations

Motion = beweging

Force = gewicht

Definition: Motion is a change in position of an object over time. But also animals/plants and people
use motion
There is also slow motion: that is when the time goes really slow and that you see everything slow.
So that you slow the time down.
Cars, planes and trains also move. But then in a other way: with a engine. That is the not natural
version of motion and also bad for our planet.
Famous physicist that studied force and motion: Isaac Newton

What famous physicist studied force/motion,

Isaac Newton studied force and motion, he was born on 4 January 1643 in Lincolnshire,
England. He died on 31 March 1727 in Kensington, Middlesex. He was the guy that
discovered the gravity and made the laws of motion. On a day he was sitting underneath a
apple tree, then a apple fell on his head. Because of this he gets the idea that the force of
this falling apple the same force was as that hold the planets on its place. Because of this the
gravity wet exists now a days.

Study,
He started at the Trinity College in 1661 on the reference of his uncle Rev William Ayscough.
The Trinity College is in Cambridge, England. In 1665 he got his diploma of the Trinity
College, after this studied two years at home. At home he studied on the gravity law, that he
discovered by the falling apple. The gravity law was published in 1687 by Mr. Newton. His
made the laws of motion

Why he is famous,
Mr. Newton gets famous because he discovered what gravity is by the apple that fell on his
head. He also gets famous because of the 3 laws of Mr. Newton.

His laws where:

1. slowness law (a object where no force is on, is in rest)

2. force changes the motion (changing the impulse direct proportional with the
resulting power that follows the straight line in which force is working)

3. action  reaction (when object A lays a force on object B, this force goes back but
in opposite force)
Science museum
First we had to wait before we were allowed to go into the science museum. Before we went in we
had to make groups and with your group you had to do some research and some simple experiments
or tests in the museum. When we went in there where a lot of things to do with different themes
such as light, sound and more. Also there were some game challenges and experiments and a lot
more. The nicest thing to do was outside. You had to turn a spiral with a ball in it and when it was on
top the ball went down with a really long slide. It was really cool to see. Two hours before we left
the science centre we got a guided tour by a English men. He told us about a really big telescope he
talked a lot. It was really boring and it felt like the tour took forever. After the tour we ate something
and after that we headed for the coach and we went to the hostel.
