GUIDELINES
FOR COVER DANCE COMPETITION APPLICANTS

1. Eligibility for Application

a. Participants are preferably 18 years old and above at the time of
the competition.
b. Participants aged 17 years old and below will also be allowed to
join.
i. HOWEVER, should the under-aged participants win the
competition, they must travel to Korea with their parent(s)
or if traveling with a guardian, must secure the necessary
documents for minors traveling without their parents.
ii. The under-aged participant(s)' parent(s)/guardian(s) must
secure their own travel visa to Korea and will have to
shoulder their own travel and accommodation costs during
the competition in Korea if and when they accompany the
under-aged participant. KCC will not be able to provide
assistance to the under-aged participant(s)' companions.
iii. Moreover, the under-aged participants MUST provide a
waiver that states they are allowed by their parents to join
the competition and that the Korean Cultural Center in the
Philippines is absolved of all the responsibility in case any
untoward incidents happen.
c. Participant(s) must be a resident and citizen of the Philippines.
d. Participant(s) must be able to travel overseas.

e. Team must be composed of as much members as the group they

are covering (ex: INFINITE cover group must have a total of
seven (7) members, 2NE1 cover group must have a total of four
(4) members. The original or the current line-up can be followed
regarding groups that have re-structured their member line-up.)
i. The teams that can be covered according to the 2015 K-Pop
Festival organizers are:

2. Application Requirements
i. Completed application form. (Form can be downloaded
from the KCC website.
ii. Recorded video file of performance piece. The submitted
video must be the exact same piece that the
participant(s) will perform during the competition.

composition)
a) Requirements for COVER DANCE Competition video
entry:
 The video doesn’t have a time limit
however, the total time of performance must be
under six (6) minutes.
 Participant(s) can make the video as
unique and creative as they want it to be. (Ex:
Video can be produced in a music video format
or performance format.)
 Participants can have an introduction of
themselves before the performance clip.
 Video must be uploaded on YouTube with
the title:
“2015 PINOY K-POP STAR – Cover Dance Competition – TEAM
NAME”

3. Application Procedure
Step 1: Upload video on YouTube. (Video must follow the
Cover Dance Competition video entry requirements
mentioned above)

Step 2: Register at the 2015 K-pop Festival website,

http://kpopfestival.org. (NOTE: It is advisable that
participants upload their entries early to gain more

“LIKES” or “HITS/VIEWS” that will be a big factor for

their qualification to the PHILIPPINE Finals on August
15.)

Step 3: Send the following to kccphevents@gmail.com with

the SUBJECT HEAD: “[2015PKS] Dance – NAME”

 Duly accomplished form. (Form can be

downloaded from the KCC Website). Must include
the link of entry uploaded on 2015 K-Pop Festival
website (http://kpopfestival.org)

Step 4: The organizers of the 2015 K-pop Festival will

forward list of participants from the Philippines who
will perform during the Philippine Finals on August
15, 2015 (Saturday).

Step 5: Announcement of finalists will be made on the KCC

website by August 5. Finalists will be notified via e-
mail as well.

4. Contest Rules

i. Music should be a Korean song of the artist/group that

is being covered.
a) Remix is allowed.
b) Maximum length of track: 6 minutes.
ii. Groups may use props as long as it won’t affect anything
in the event or will not cause harm to anyone.

iii. All entries submitted will automatically be properties of

the Korean Cultural Center (KCC), giving KCC the rights
to reproduce, exhibit or publish the videos for
promotional / advertising purposes.
iv. All finalists will be filmed by KCC throughout the
competition. The winner’s video(s) will be submitted to
the 2015 K-Pop Festival organizers.

5. Criteria for Judging

There are two different criteria for judging for the Cover Dance
Competition:
i. Videos uploaded on the 2015 K-Pop Festival website
(http://kpopfestival.org) will be judged as follows:

“HITS/VIEWS” of cover dance video uploaded on 30%

2015 K-pop Festival website
Number of “LIKES” of cover dance video 20%
uploaded on 2015 K-Pop Festival website
Evaluation of professional judges (in Korea) 50%

TOTAL 100%

ii. For the PHILIPPINE Finals on August 15, 2015, the Cover
Dance Competition will be judged as follows:

The group’s attitude, facial expressions, and how they
move on stage.

How the group represents the fashion style of the K-pop
artists
