KINDERGARTEN TEACHER´S JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Morning Coordinator she works to create a flexible
kindergarten program and kindergarten environment favourable to learning and personal growth; to
establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge
needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program, in
accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff
members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provides learning experiences in language arts, social studies, pre-reading, arithmetic, science,
art, physical education, music and games to pupils, utilizing course of study adopted by the School
and other appropriate learning activities.

2. Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of pupils with
wide range of mental, physical and emotional maturities.

3. Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and help the pupils
make a satisfactory transition to school.

4. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behaviour needed to achieve effective participation
in all activities without interfering with the naturally informal atmosphere of a kindergarten.

5. Evaluates academic and social growth of pupils and keeps appropriate records.

6. Communicates with parents through a variety of means. Holds parent conferences to discuss the
individual pupil's progress and interprets the school program twice a year. (July and December)

7. Identifies students’ needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing
and helping pupils coping with different situations where they might need to be assisted.

8. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays
(numbers, colours, animals, ABC,etc), bulletin boards and interest centres, including learning
corners. Prepares materials such as flashcards, word cards, games, posters to work with the
students in the classroom.

9. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities by self-selected


professional growth activities.

10. Selects books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.

11. Ensures a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to
the extent possible.

12. Supervises pupils in and out-of-classroom activities during assigned working day.

13. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs as required.

14. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.

15. Prepares thematic units and hand them in to the coordinator every month.

16. Establishes routines for the students inside the classroom.


17. Helps keep working order during singing lessons.

18. Helps students during breakfast.

19. Writes and hands in newsletters every month on time.

20. Maintains classroom organization, discipline and cleanness.

21. Provides and maintains a safe and supervised environment in the classroom, SUM, kitchen,
library, toilets and on the school grounds.

22. Helps students become autonomous.

23. Demonstrates professional ethics including confidentiality about institution, teachers, students,
families.

24. Conforms to School policies, including attendance, absences and evaluations.

25. Assesses and monitors students' work and sets targets for progress.

26. Respects break duties and the school timetable.

27. Chooses the units or topics to work on during the whole year.

28. Participates in the school activities with good attitude so that both students and other teachers
enjoy, cooperate and get to know each other better.

29. Participates actively in general and institutional meetings including meetings related to the
“cooperativa”.

30. Takes part in the monthly bulletin boards decoration and institutional projects as required.
