My name is Corey Porterfield, a certified special education teacher, with an endorsement in

Learning Disabilities. I have 15 years of experience of working with children, and currently hold
a Bachelor of Science in Management from Michigan State University, a Master of Arts in
Teaching from Wayne State University, and I expect to complete an Education Specialist in
Leadership in June 2019 from Oakland University.

During my time at Pontiac Schools, I had the opportunity to work at the elementary and
secondary level as a resource room teacher and as a co-teacher in an inclusive classroom setting
to support students with learning disabilities. I had the privilege to work with many students
from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. I also have experience in community-
based learning and extracurricular activities such as after school tutoring, student council
advisor, and senior class sponsor.

January 2014, I began working at Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy as an
Associate Dean of Admissions for grades Junior Kindergarten-8th. I also teach one Freshman
Seminar class in the high school. My main function in admissions is to oversee the entire
admissions process for prospective families to Notre Dame. Additionally, I am the entrance
exam testing administrator for the middle and upper schools and oversee all academic summer
camps.

In the Freshman Seminar class, I help students achieve academic success in all academic classes,
develop and reinforce study and organization skills, and promote student responsibility for
academic success. I also consult and collaborate with teachers to ensure progress towards
positive academic achievement for each student.

I enjoy teaching all children and feel that I can make a positive impact on their educational
