Project Title: LEARNING ACTION CELL (LAC) SESSION ON

TEACHING AND WRITING RESEARCH

I. Rationale:
Republic Act 9155 provides that the Department of Education is
mandated to “undertake national educational research and studies” which
can become part of the basis for necessary reforms and policy inputs to
improve the delivery of basic quality education.
In the desire to support the Department of Education’s mandate and
to provide assistance to research teachers, the English department will
conduct this SLAC session on teaching research.

II. Objectives:
1. Foster and nurture the culture of research among English teachers of
Subic National High School;
2. Equip the research teachers the necessary knowledge and skills in
teaching research; and
3. Share best practices in teaching and writing research.

III. Training Description:

This is a half-day live out seminar workshop with 2 sessions to give way
for the teachers with morning and afternoon shifts.

IX. Monitoring and Evaluation:

The training shall be composed of hands-on exercises. Outputs will
be assessed to identify the degree or level of learning/improvement.
Follow-up exercises shall be given to further enhance the participants’
potential in the field of research.

X. Reporting Phase:
The result of the training shall be reported to officials concerned for
information and record purposes; to wit: participants’ attendance, sample
outputs, narrative report of proceedings.

Because of the K-12 curriculum, research is now fully rooted in the

list of subjects students must take in order to graduate in the secondary
level. Teachers are now supposed to at least have a grasp of basic
research concepts in order to teach it to students. It is then the
responsibility of the Department of Education and the school to ensure
that these teachers will get the necessary training to develop their
research capabilities.
In lieu of this, the proponent would like to request approval from
your good office to conduct a Learning Action Cell (SLAC) Session on
Teaching and Writing Research on June 21, 2019, to be held at the SPJ
Radio Room, SPJ Building.
