A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH

Junior High School Department

School: Galas National High School Date: March 14, 2018


Time Allotment: 1 hour Time: 8:30 – 9:30 AM

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students can:
A. Add more ideas to given sentences for expansion
B. Value the significance of expanding sentences
C. Construct meaningful expanded sentences

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic: Sentence Expansion
Reference:
“Sentence Expansion – Adding to Basic Sentences” Learning Module
Grade VIII pg. 561.
Instructional Materials:
 Balloons for popping
 Stretch out sentences activity boxes
 Visual aids, pictures, cartolina and markers
 Worksheets and hand-outs for the students

Value Focus: Being kin and careful in determining details and adding more
information to simple sentence.

III. PROCEDURE

each labeled with the corresponding

Direction:
The teacher places each box on the front
table containing word cards that belonged
to each label of the assigned box. Have the
students pick out from each box in order
to let them stretch out or add more details
from the chosen word card from the box.

Sentence Foldable Activity:


The teacher divides the class into three (3)
groups and hands each group a copy of
their tasks to expand their sentences.

Direction: Sample Sentence Foldable Activity:

each level of their expanded ideas to each
level of the cartolina being folded.

There will be three (3) groups in the class

will be provided with different sentences
to be expanded and add details to it.

discussed earlier, like using compound
subject, predicate and objective, using

We can also add adjectives to sentences to
expand it and give more detail.

Why do we need to expand our sentences? We need to expand our sentences so that

give them a much more realistic or
visualized thought on the idea that we
want to deliver to our audience. We can

constructing sentences.
