HEALTH & SAFETY

SAFETY FIRST – NOTHING IS SO IMPORTANT THAT IT CANNOT BE DONE SAFELY

Crown Contracting Limited is committed to creating a safe work environment that minimizes or
eliminates the risks that could cause injury to our employees, subcontractors and the public.
Our strength lies in a cohesive team where every individual is an important contributor towards
our common goal of zero accidents and injuries. This is where workplace health and safety
becomes an integral part of our success.

Workers have the right to a safe workplace and the responsibility for safety is a collective effort.
All levels of supervision are accountable for leadership, developing proper attitudes, providing
training as necessary and ensuring work is carried out in compliance with legal requirements for
workplace health and safety. Employees are personally held responsible for genuine
cooperation with all aspects of our health and safety program, including compliance with all
rules and regulations and for continually practicing safe work practices and procedures while
performing their duties. Safety training and education is a key component to our safety
program. The purpose of this is to help build a skilled, well-trained and professional workforce
to encourage innovation and continuous improvement in performance.

In British Columbia legal requirements for workplace health and safety are governed by the
Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. We are proud to
be in a merit position with WorkSafe BC and in order to maintain our ‘good standing’ we conduct
on-going and annual reviews of regulations, make amendments to our Health & Safety program
and provide employees with up to date regulations.

We are an active member of the British Columbia Construction Safety Alliance (BCCSA) a
safety association recognized by WorkSafe BC which focuses on injury prevention, no cost
health and safety training, resources, and consultation. As a member of the BCCSA, we have
been participating in the Certificate Recognition Program (COR) since 2004. COR recognizes
and rewards employers who take a strategic approach to workplace safety and are committed to
reducing workplace injuries.

Together we must work to not only comply with but exceed health and safety standards.
