ABSTRACT
Introduction: Hypertension is a chronic condition characterized by increased blood pressure in
artery walls. It can disrupt blood flow, damage blood vessels, even cause degenerative diseases,
until death. Paccerakang is a region in Makassar City, South Sulawesi. Based on data from the
Health Department of Makassar City in 2015 that in the Region Pacerakang there is a high
incidence of hypertension. The purpose of devotion is to provide understanding and skill
formation in the effort to recognize, prevent and treat hypertension in Pacerakang community.
Method: The concept of community service used with the concept of Kitchen Kecab (Know,
prevent and Treat) Hypertension. In Community service is done Provision of health education,
measurement of high blood pressure, demonstration of high fiber healthy, low salt and fat diet
and training of health cadres Paccerakang. The subject of this research is 39 people of
Paccerakang. Results: The level of public knowledge after being given health education and anti
hypertensive cooking demonstrations increased by 20% on average and high blood pressure
measurement skills performed by health cadres averaged above 85%. Conclusion: The Kitchen
Program of Hypertension Cake can provide convenience to the community and health cadres in
knowing, preventing and treating hypertension.
