The air flow sensor is a "hot wire sensor" where an electric
current heats the wire located in the sensor. The resistance of the wire increases as it gets hotter. When air passes the wire, it is cooled and the resistance allows more current to flow to the circuit. The amount of current required to maintain the wire's temperature is directly proportional to the amount of air that passes the wire.

Intake Air Flow Sensor (T126)
The flow sensor is positioned in the intake pipe.
The air flow is measured in kg/min. The flow sensor detects the quantity of air flowing into the engine. The engine control unit uses the information to calculate the air-to-fuel ratio and to regulate EGR content.

Serial communication
The communication between computers in a network is
called serial communication, also known as CAN (Controller Area Network) communication.
The ECU handles app.1600 messages/second,(153kbit)
