Know About the SIP/SIP-I

SIP/SIP-I
What is the SIP:The SIP protocol is a session control protocol on the application layer. It
SIP/SIP-I? is used for creation, modification, and termination of sessions, for example,
multimedia conference sessions and Internet sessions.

SIP-I:For interoperation between SIP signaling and ISUP signaling, a

mechanism of SIP messages incorporated with ISUP signaling is provided.
The SIP-I procedure is Similar to the standard SIP procedure, except that SIP-I
requires the MSC server to encapsulate ISUP messages into SIP messages.

What are the

functions?

Four scenarios in which the MSOFTX3000 adopts the SIP/

SIP-I protocol.

1.Interworking between the CS and PSTN.

When the SIP-I protocol is adopted over the Nc

interface in the mobile CS network for interworking
of the basic services and supplementary services,
the MSC server works with the MGW to serve as a
VMSC, TMSC, or GMSC, and complete signaling
control and conversion of bearer signaling.
For details, see WMFD-119800_SIP-I Based Nc in
the product documentation.
2.Interworking Between the CS Network and NGN

During the SIP-based interworking of basic voice

services and supplementary services between
the GSM/UMTS R4 network and the NGN, the
MSOFTX3000 and MGW together serve as an
IWU to complete the signaling conversion from
BICC or ISUP to SIP.
For details, see WMFD-110600_SIP/SIP-I in the
product documentation.

3.CS Interworking with IMS

During the SIP-based interworking of basic voice

services and supplementary services between
the IP multimedia system (IMS) domain and the
circuit switched (CS) domain, the
MSOFTX3000and IP multimedia-media gateway
function (IM-MGW) together serve as a media
gateway control function (MGCF) to complete
the signaling conversion from BICC or ISUP to
SIP.
For details, see WMFD-168300_Embedded
MGCF in the product documentation.

4.ICS Anchor Networking

Two scenarios:
A mobile subscriber who has registered
convergent services with IMS originates or
receives a call in thE CS domain. The call is
routed to IMS so that IMS entities can provide
IMS services to the mobile subscriber in the CS
domain.
A CS subscriber originates a call to a mobile
subscriber in IMS. The call is routed to IMS so
the mobile subscriber in IMS can receive the call.
For details, see WMFD-201200_ICS Anchor in
the product documentation.
