Unit 23 – Personal Media Profile

1. Suitability for Audience:

The audience for my personal media profile and products is aimed at all
people who are in need of me to produce digital products for them such as
posters, banner, websites and flyer. This will mainly be targeted at both male
and female adult over 21+ as they will have to pay me for creating there
products. I will be working for a range of different range of customers such
as small independent companies to individuals who require my
professional services.

The logo that I had created for my personal for my personal media profile as it is simple yet
bright, positive and colourful, I chose this colour as it is gender neutral and I want it to appeal to
both genders. I have developed a logo that is simplistic and memorable. Due to the use of the
retro camera it is also timeless and will not need to be updated in the near future.

The images I have used throughout my personal media profile are suitable for my target
audience. I have tried to incorporate a range of products that shows that I can develop products
suitable for both males and female. The images I have used show my level of professionalism in
my media profile and show that that I can produce a high standard of work that are suitable for
my audience.

My colour scheme for my personal media profile is kept neutral as I want it to look aesthetically
pleasing to my chosen target audience.

Suitability for Purpose:

The purpose of my personal media profile is to advertise and promote myself as being a digital
media designer. My portfolio will show all my range of different skills that I have across different
media including web design, video editing, image editing, document design and photography. My

personal media will be the best way to promote myself as it will reach to a wider audience and
gain custom from potential clients due to the quality of the products that I have included.

2. Professionalism:

Discussion:
There isn’t much difference between my personal portfolio and the professional portfolio, if anything I think my
portfolio is more visually pleasing. The colour scheme is neutral with pastel shades and suitable for both males
and females. I have also decided to include one of my strongest pieces of digital design work on my homepage.
This clearly demonstrates my strengths as a digital designer and, in my opinion it looks more inviting and
professional than these established digital designer.

The use of colours, images and text compliment each other and as a result the overall professionalism of the
Media Profile is very strong.

3. Use of Social Media




I added some of my digital content to be placed on social media. There are many
advantages of social media such as large target audience this means when I promote myself
I will be able to spread it to a wider audience. It is also the quickest way to get information
across.
The social media platform I chose to do was face book as I thought this would suit the client
brief as the target audience is 18+ and most of this age range will have face book, I will also
be using Instagram as almost everyone has it so I will be able to promote myself quicker. I
used these media platform as it is easy and straight forward to use.

Discussion:
When looking at both of the works you can tell that the professional work as it has more information and very
professional pictures and layout. I think that the professional account has better chance at helping more clients as it
has a lot more access to information. I believe I have my personal social media profile professional I have made a social
media account so that people are able to contact me and get in touch when they need me to help them. I think that
this makes me look professional. I could improve my website by adding information just like the other professional
website has done. To be able to reach a wider audience and gain more clients I will use more than one social media
account such as face book, Instagram and twitter.




4. Repurposing of media

As a graphic designer I am often required to repurpose and reuse products I have developed for
different reasons. I will go through some examples:

A: Word Documents:

Original Purpose:

I have created client briefs, proposals and specifications to be presented to clients


to make sure that people have a clear understanding of all the requirements.

Repurposing:

I repurposed word documents by changing the format. I saved these documents as


a PDF to add them to my personal media profile. By using PDF’S a document can be opened in any
web browser. This makes it accessible by all clients on different platforms. Now I have placed them
on my personal media profile they are to showcase my skills in graphic designing and how I work
with clients closely to ensure that I create products that meet the client’s needs.

Advantages:

• All clients can access these documents on any platform.


• Other people cannot edit my products
• Faster downloading

Disadvantages:
• Fonts and structures can be lost
• Can take a lot of time

B: PowerPoint Presentations:

Original Purpose:

Another example is my power point presentation. I have made


power point presentations for my clients to show them all my skills
and different ideas such as story boards, mind maps and mood
boards. This is important that I do this as I want to give my clients
an idea of what the final product will look like. The main purpose
for this is to display my ideas and creations to my clients.

Repurposing:

I have saved my power points to JPEG’S to repurpose them. This will allow me to entre them on my
personal media profile in a visual way. I will save each slide separately and put them together as a
slide show to up load on my personal media profile. This will make it easier for the clients to see. The

clients will then be able to interact with the presentation as they can click through it to a chosen
slide. This is good because it then shows that I can clearly interact with the clients.

Advantages:

• More visual way of showing a presentation


• Others cannot edit it
• Client can access this on any platform

Disadvantages:

• Time consuming
• Loss of animations
• Unreliable as it can appear blurry
• Reduction of resolution

C: Videos

Original Purpose:

My original video was created for the purpose to stop anti-


smoking and my recording of my pitch presentation for the
client brief were recorded on a 4K digital camera. This was to
ensure very good quality and clearness.

Repurposing:

To repurpose the videos I saved them into a compressed format. This reduced the picture and
sound quality which wasn’t very good however it needed to be done so it could fit onto the web
page.

Advantages:

• Accessible from any platform


• Entertaining for potential clients

Disadvantages:

• Time consuming
• I had to embed it through YouTube so this took more time and
• Reduction of resolution

B: Posters/JPEGS:

Original Purpose:

I have made a wide Range of products from posters, to banners and to logos. They were
all saved in high resolution. I needed the products to be a larger scale as they would be

displayed in a high quality. This is very important as my created products must be in a high standard
so it is visible to passing audiences.

Repurposing:

To repurpose these product images and use them on my personal


media profile. I had to reduce the size of the products so they
could be applied online. Again this was so I could advertise my
products to demonstrate skillset.

Advantages:

• Quicker up load times


• Accessible through any platform

Disadvantages:

• reduction of resolution in image quality


• Posters are more visual and eye catching
