Game: Brain Bashers

Divide the class into 4 groups. Let each of the group choose their leader.
The teacher will give the instruction of the game to the leaders. After that, with the
cue of the teacher, the leaders of the group will read the instruction. All of the
members should comply the entire task. The group who will first accomplish the
entire task in the given time (2 minutes) will be the winner.

Note: When all of the members are finish. Stand up and say ‘SIR, YES SIR!’ ,
then sit down.

Game Instruction:

1. First, find a pen and paper and write your name at the top of the paper
then write the numbers 1 to 5, one per line.
2. Then, draw five small circles beside #1, put an "X" in the second and
fourth circles next to #1 and write the word 'encyclopedia' beside #3.
3. Next, put an X in the lower right hand corner of the paper, underline your
name and count the number feet in your group. Write the answer beside
#2 on your paper.
4. Finally, Put a square around #1 and #5, punch 3 small holes anywhere in
the paper and write today's date beside #5 on your paper. Circle every
letter 'E' you have written.

Lea’s First Vote

Lea wakes up very early in the morning. She is very enthusiastic


because it’s Election Day and it’s her first time to participate on the
National Election. She quickly takes her bath and cooks fried fish for her
breakfast. In cooking the fried fish, she first washes the pan and heat it
on the fire. Next, she pours some cooking oil on the pan. Then, she puts
the fish on the pan and waits until it turns to golden brown. Lastly, she
takes the fish from the pan, puts it on the plate and she takes her
breakfast.

After eating, she hurriedly packs her things. First, she puts in her
bag the election list which contains the names of her chosen candidates.
Next, she brings her valid government IDs to confirm her identity like her
postal, passport and voter’s ID. Then, she checks and unplugs the
appliances, lock the door of her house and she rides a cab going to the
school.

On the school, Lea follows the direction in the voting process she
read on the gate to avoid disorder. First, she checks each precinct if her
name is in the voters’ list. After she finds her name and her precinct, she
then finds a seat and get a ballot, a maker and a secrecy folder and she
begins her voting. Next she shades the oval near the names of her
chosen candidate, she uses her election list to make her voting easy and
to avoid mistakes. Lastly, she brings her ballot and feeds it to the PCOS
machine and marks her right forefinger with the indelible ink.

Lea feels happy because she exercises her right and moral
responsibility as a responsible citizen. She goes home smiling and
hoping for progress for her country.

a. Engagement Activity 1:
Divide the class into 3 groups. In a provided cartolina ask the
student to do the following:
Group 1: Demonstrate to the class the steps on how Lea
cooks the fried fish. Draw the things and materials
Lea used.
Group 2: Act out the steps Lea did in preparing her things
before going to the school.
Group 3: Use an organizer to show the steps Lea followed
in voting.

Group 2: We are the performers
- Compose 1 verse action song about directions for
cooking rice. Use the word signals first, next, then and
finally. Perform the action song to the class.

Group 3: We are the artists.


- Draw a mouth with teeth, toothpaste, glass of water
and a toothbrush. Cut it out and demonstrate to the
class the proper way of brushing one’s teeth using the
word signals first, next, then and finally.
IV. Evaluation
Using the pictures, write the steps in cooking fried egg. Use the format

V. Assignment
On your English notebook, think of a project that will help your community.
