The K12 Curriculum
The K12 Basic Education Curriculum
The K12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12
years of basic education (six years of primary
education, four years of JHS, and two years of SHS
to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts
and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare
graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills
development, employment, and entrepreneurship.
Making the Curriculum Relevant to Learners
(Contextualization and Enhancement

Examples, activities, songs, poems, stories, and


illustrations are based on local culture, history, and reality.
This makes the lessons relevant to the learners and easy to
understand.
Student acquire in-depth knowledge, skills, values, and
attitudes through continuity and consistency across all
levels and subjects.

Discussion on issues such as Disaster Risk Reduction


(DRR), Climate change Adaptation, and Information &
Communication Technology (ICT) are included in the
enhanced curriculum.
The Grading System
How are learners promoted or retained at the end of the
school year?

A Final Grade of 75 or higher in all learning areas allows the


student to be promoted to the next grade level.
Duties of a Student
Subject to the limitation prescribe by law and the school
policies and regulations, the duties of a student of
private school shall be:

• To obey and observe all laws and prescribed school


rules and regulation;
• To respect proper authority, whenever governmental or
institutional;
• To uphold the aims, ideals and integrity of his/her
school;
• To abide by, comply with and maintain the academic
standards of his/her school;
• To c o n d u c t h i m s e l f i n a p r o p e r a n d
irreproachable manner in his/her relations and
dealings with all members of the academic
community;
• To observe at all times, inside or outside the
classroom or school campus, the accepted
principles of proper decorum and good
behavior; and
• To meet promptly his/her financial and property
obligations to the school.
Student Services
Guidance
The guidance and Counseling Office has a Guidance Staff who
provides vocational, educational and personal counseling
services. Students may discuss any subject and all discussions
during counseling are confidential. The guidance staff also assists
students in planning their careers and their personal and academic
goals.

Multi-media Classrooms
All classrooms are provided with flat screens, cables and
connectors. Power point presentations, film viewing and the like
using the multimedia facilities are done inside the classrooms for
a more effective learning experience.
WIFI Zone
With the implementation of the iPad program, FPA is a
WIFI Campus. This is for ease of access to the internet
especially for students’ use in their respective classes.
Dental Services
• The University’s dental program includes teeth
cleaning and polishing, prophylactic treatments, and
tooth extraction or repair. An appointment for any of
these services is necessary.
Emergency services, including first aid and medical treatment,
are available at the University clinic. The services of a nurse
and a physician are available free of charge and the initial dose
of medicine is given to students without charge. Students are
encouraged to utilize the services of the clinic for injuries and
illnesses.
• Library
• The library is an integral part of the instructional program at
FPA. Students are encouraged to visit and use the FPA library
with its many resources and services. The high school library
is located on the first floor of the FPA high school building.
The librarian is available from 8:00 A.M – 5:00 P.M.
Monday through Friday to attend to the needs of the students.
• Food Services
• The cafeteria offers a variety of menu selections, and
is open from 8:00 A.M until 5:00 P.M. from Monday
through Friday. The cafeteria is located beside the high
school building.
• Parking
• Students with driver’s license may use the parking
space for their registered motorcycles during the
school year, located near the dormitory building.

Norms of Conduct
Upon enrollment, a student signs a contract
promising to comply with the policies, rules and
regulations of the University High School.
1. Show respect to your peers, teachers and other
members of the school administration.
2. Wear your I.D properly upon entering the campus
and while inside the school premises.
3. Wear a clean and a proper uniform following the
color coding schedule.

Monday- Yellow Monday- Black
Tuesday- Maroon Tuesday-Green
Wednesday- Blue Wednesday-Maroon
Thursday- Green Thursday-Blue
Friday- Black Friday- Yellow

If an undershirt is worn, preferably, it should be white and


properly tucked-in.
4. Students’ earrings may be worn, one on each earlobe at the bottom of
the ear. Only girls are allowed to wear earrings.
5. Good grooming is expected from each student. Extreme colored hair is
not allowed. Proper haircut for male student is 2x3 and will be checked by
class advisers every first Monday of the month. Female students should
keep their hair neatly combed and tied.
6. Be punctual in coming to school. School attendance begins with the
attendance at the flag ceremony.
7. Attend your classes regularly. A letter should be presented to your
teachers if you fail to attned your classes due to some reasonable cause.
8. Be silent when using the corridors and hallways especially during class
hours so as not to disturb others.
9. Be responsible in maintaining the cleanliness of the
classroom and the campus by disposing your garbage
properly. Eat only in designated areas like the Cafeteria and
the Butterfly area. Always keep these areas tidy and clean
after using them.
10. After eating lunch, you may spend the rest of the lunch
period in the Library, talk to friends or play board games on
the hallway. Ball games are not allowed during lunch hour.
Refrain from doing activities that may cause accident or injury
to other students,
11. Be responsible for valuable things being brought to
school. In cases of losses, the school should not be liable.
12. Students must be out of the campus after
dismissal time, except for varsity players and
students with special arrangement with the teacher
in charge.
13. Students are not allowed to stay in the campus
during non-school days except on occasions that
may require student’s attendance.
14. Public display of affection (e.g. holding hands,
etc.) is not allowed in the campus.
Student Discipline
Dismissal from School
The University reserves the right to dismiss any student at
any time during the Academic Year if his/ her behavior
proves to be detrimental to the welfare of other students.
These behaviors include:
• Bringing to school/ possessing/ distributing any
prohibited drugs, pornographic materials or weapons.
• Carrying / possessing firearms, deadly weapons,
explosives, firecrackers, or any form of pyrotechnic
devices.
• Verbally insulting or physically assaulting a teacher or
any school employee or authority.
• Involvement in subversive activities and/ or
illegal assemblies.
• Becoming a member of a notorious group/ gang
whose motives are to influence others to join
them in their illegal activities.
• Intentionally furnishing false or fraudulent
information to the University in connection with
the documents the student furnishes.
Procedure:
In investigating an offense, due process is observed. The
Class Adviser or the Personnel involved, submits a written
report of the case. The respondents, on the other hand
submit his/ her statement of the said incident. The
documents will be submitted to the Disciplinary Committee
for further investigation. The parent/ guardian will be called
for a conference together with the student/s involved and
presents the existing case. The Disciplinary Committee
may propose the following measures:
Reprimand- a student will be called by the Principal to be
reprimanded.
Counseling- the student will be advised to undergo
counseling to correct hi undesired behavior.
Community Service- the student will be given assigned
tasks in lieu of a certain sanction.
Suspension- a student will not be reporting from school
and will not be allowed to enter the school premises during
school hours for 1-2 weeks.
SCHOOL NOISE AND CLEANLINESS
Silence should be observed during school hours. Students
are not allowed to hang around buildings, corridors
including the Library and other administration offices.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Cellular phones must be turned off and not to be used
except during snacks and lunch breaks. The school
assumes no liability for lost, stolen, or damaged cell
phones, calculators, personal computers, iPads or any other
electronic devices students choose to bring on campus.
Attendance and Punctuality
Regularity of attendance and punctuality are required in all
classes. A student who has been absent or has cut
classes is required to present a letter of explanation from
his or her parents or guardian or to bring them to school
for a short conference with the section adviser or guidance
counselor as the case may be.
Attendance of students in special holidays, activities
relative to their religious activities, e.g. Ramadan, shall be
allowed provided permission of the school head is sought.
Absences
A student who incurs absences of more than twenty percent of the
prescribed number of class or laboratory periods during the school year
should be given a failing grade and given no credit for the course or
subject. Furthermore, the school head may at his/ her discretion and in
the individual case exempt a student who exceeds the twenty percent
limit for reasons considered valid and acceptable to the school. Such
discretion shall not excuse the student concerned from responsibility in
keeping up with the lesson assignment and taking examinations where
indicated. The discretionary authority is vested in the school head, and
may not be availed of by any student nor granted by the faculty member
without the consent of the school head.
Habitual tardiness especially during the first period in the morning and in
the afternoon shall not be allowed. Teachers concerned shall call for the
parents of the student concerned or visit him/ her at home.
Offenses & Sanctions
The following sanctions shall be imposed after an investigation
observing due process on a student who has committed any of the
following offenses:
2.1 A student who comes to class late will be warned and given a
written reprimand on his/ her 1st offense (1-5 consecutive/ non-
consecutive days), community service for 1 week on his/ her 2nd offense
(6-15 consecutive/ non-consecutive days), community service for 2
weeks on his/ her 3rd offense (16-20 consecutive/ non-consecutive
days).
2.2 A student who is habitually absent, cut or missed his/ her class for
no valid reason will be warned and given a written reprimand on his/ her
1st offense (1-5 consecutive/ non-consecutive days), community service
for 1 week on his/ her 2nd offense (6-10 consecutive/ non-consecutive
days), community service for 2 weeks on his/ her 3rd offense (11-15
consecutive/ non-consecutive days and may be advised to transfer on
his/ her 4th offense (16-20 consecutive/ non-consecutive days).
2.3 A student suspected and caught destroying property of the
University, writing graffiti on walls and other surfaces will be ordered to
repair or replace the damaged property and remove the graffiti. He/ she
may be suspended for 3 days on the 1st offense, up to 1-2 weeks for the
2nd and 3rd offenses and may be dismissed on his/ her 4th offense.
2.4 A student known to be participating in brawls or inflicting physical
injuries inside or outside the campus or during outside institutional
activities may be suspended for up to 2 weeks on his/ her 1st offense
and may be dismissed on his/ her 2nd offense.
2.5 A student entering the campus in a state of intoxication, bringing
and/ or drinking liquor inside or outside the campus may be suspended
for up to 1-2 weeks on his/ her 1st and 2nd offenses and may be
dismissed after his/ her 3rd offense.
2.6 A student who physically assaults another student may be
suspended for up to 1-2 weeks on his/ her 1st and 2nd
offenses and may be dismissed on his/ her 3rd offense.
2.7 A student disrespecting in words or in deed with the intent
to ridicule or put in contempt any member of the
administration, faculty, staff or any person vested with
authority may be suspended for up to 1-2 weeks on his/ her
1st and 2nd offenses and may be dismissed on his 3rd offense.
2.8 A student who is caught cheating, stealing, tampering or
faking of records and/ or receipts will be suspended for up to
2 weeks on his/ her 1st offense and may be dismissed on his/
her 2nd offense.
2.9 A student who steals and misappropriates classroom or
organization funds and/ or properties will repay the amount
and/ or replace the property. He/ she may be suspended for
up to 1-2 weeks on his/ her 1st and 2nd offense and may be
dismissed on his 3rd offense.
2.10 A student who purposely jumps over the fence from
outside to inside or inside to outside the campus will be
suspended for 3 days to 1 week on his/ her 1st and 2nd
offense and may be dismissed on his/ her 3rd offense.
2.11 A student who is involved in gambling or betting on
campus may be suspended for 3 days to 1 week on his/ her
1st and 2nd offense and be dismissed on his/ her 3rd offense.
2.12 A student who is involved in any act of that
may be considered offensive to the image and
tradition of the institution, such as urinating in public
places, public exposure and/ or intimate public
display of affection on campus will be suspended for
3 days to 1week on his/ her 1st and 2nd offense and
may be dismissed on his/ her 3rd offense.
Campus Security
CLOSED CAMPUS POLICY
The University High School has a closed campus policy.
School begins at 7:45 A.M. and ends at 5:00 P.M. The
gate will be closed at 8:00 A.M. (right after the flag
ceremony) and will be opened at 5:00 P.M. after afternoon
classes or required activities in the afternoon. Students
are encouraged to bring their packed meal for lunch.
Students are not allowed to leave the University High
School Campus between 7:45 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
CAMPUS EVACUATION
Students and employees will be relocated to the
South Campus if the North Campus needs to be
evacuated due to actual or potential hazards that
may threaten students’ safety and well-being.
Parents will be contacted as soon as possible and
an announcement will be made over Greyhound
101.3 FM.

Oath of Undertaking
• Please be reminded that you are only
given 10 calendar days after the
scheduled exam to pay your financial
obligation. When you exceed, 1% interest
will be added to your financial obligation.

• This is in line with our effort to


train young individuals to be
responsible towards plastic use.
Compliance Week

• Students are only allowed to comply a week after the


submission of grades. Failure to do so would mean that
she/he fails/gets low grades.
• For missed activities, students are only allowed to take
when they present an excuse letter with his/her valid
reason. Failure to do so would mean disallowance of
compliance. Compliances will be done at 5 pm.
Consultation Time

• For parents, please see the images below so we could cater


your concerns promptly. As much as posssible, please
come on the free time of the teacher so we could not
disturb their classes. However, please come whenever an
urgent concern is to be addressed immediately.
