5) Central Learning Adult/Alternative school site (C.L.A.S.S.). C.L.A.S.S incorporates a hybrid


Independent Study Program. The program has shown positive results with an increase in the
number of high school graduates each year. Students may enroll for many reasons, including
poor attendance, failing in a traditional school setting, medical issues, and moving into the
district late or family request. Teachers use district adopted curriculum including online classes.
In completion of the program students will achieve, credit completion, high school graduation, in
addition to direct writing and mathematics.

5) After School Student Education: Teamwork for Success is an after-school program


incorporated in 42​ school sites. In Merced County. ASSETS is a collaborative project between
MCOE, school districts, and community organizations to coordinate, integrate, and enhance
academic and enrichment opportunities for students. Offered at no cost to all children. ASSETS
Programs operate each day after school until 6:00 pm. Enrollment is open to all students in the
school. The program services students in grade levels K-8, grade levels may vary by school site.
Should enrollment exceed the program capacity, a waiting list is created.

5) ACES is also designed to help working parents. ACES stands out because it goes a little
further by offering assistance to parents along with their children. Such as parent workshops, free
internet use, and counseling.

5) Madera County Superintendent of Schools resource provides a lot of great information. The
information can be convenient for any parent that is new in the neighborhood. The Madera
County Superintendent website offers many choices of possible school children can attend.
Allowing the parent to research school ranking, and programs offered will help narrow down the
selection.

5) The Public Health Department provides free parenting classes. Teenagers learn the basics
skills that will help them care for their child. Such as changing diapers, feeding, and sleeping
techniques. Teens will also be informed about safety, like CPR, choking and Shaken Baby
Syndrome. The overall intent of this program is to educate the youth as much as possible before
they have their child.

5) High School Enrichment Program at The Fresno City College provides high school advanced
academically in college-level coursework. Students must be in 11th and 12th grades to apply.
Specific requirements must be met in order to attend, must be a Junior or Senior in High School,
GPA of 2.5 or higher, and approval of High School Counselor and Principal.

5) Pregnant and teens parents, up to the age of 18, are offered the Adolescent Family Life
Program (AFLP) Program. Case managers work with eligible families, perform home visits
every month. Case managers assist with education regarding pregnancy, labor and delivery,
postpartum care, breastfeeding, and child health. Support with goals to finish high school
education and work.

5) Fresno Unified School District offers many programs for K-12 students. Such as after-school
programs, family support, pre-kindergarten programs, school of choice, and many more. The
Fresno Unified School District also give parents an overview of how programs work.

5)The Merced City School District offers the only public Montessori program in Merced County.
As a free educational option for our elementary students. The Montessori Method has proven
success among a diverse group of students both in Merced and around the world. Here in
Merced, any elementary student is encouraged to apply. Although, there is a limit to how many
students enroll in the program. Given the high number of applicants, the lottery method is used in
the selection process.

5)The STEM program at Fresno State offers students summer camps ranging from science,
technology, mathematics, and engineering. Summer camps are designed for students in
kindergarten up to high school. Parents must pay for the program, but Fresno State offers
scholarships to families with low incomes.
