SESSION TITLE: Statistics and Probability, 2nd Quarter

DURATION: 6 hours

I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the training, the SHS teachers will be able to teach Statistics competently during the teaching
demonstration and return demonstration. Specifically, the teachers will be able to:
1. analyze the components of the Curriculum Guide such as content, content standards, performance standards, learning
competencies and coding;
2. determine appropriate pedagogy in translating learning competencies; and
3. prepare proper assessment activities for teaching / learning activities across competencies.

II. KEY UNDERSTANDING / CONTENT

1. Tests of Hypothesis
2. Correlation and Regression Analyses

Provide this activity.

Activity 1***
1. Divide the class into 4 groups. Assign
a topic to each group.
a. Tests of Hypothesis (for Groups 1
and 2)
b. Correlation and Regression (20 minutes)
Analyses (for Groups 3 and 4)
2. Give each group a Curriculum Guide
and a worksheet to accomplish, taking
note of the components.
3. Ask the following questions:
a. Examine the fourth quarter Content
Standards and the Performance
Standards. How do they compare?
b. Would the students meet the
standards set if the learning
competencies are achieved? Why?
c. Are the learning competencies
attainable within the suggested
period of time? Explain.
4. Let each group present their outputs to
the class.
5. Elicit comments from the participants.

4. Ask the following questions to further

strengthen or deepen the participants’
knowledge of content and pedagogy
pertaining to the concepts involved in
the problems presented and solved.

a. What are the information given in

each problem?
b. What is required in each problem?
c. How did you solve the problem?

to attain?
c. How would you make students learn
these competencies? What
strategies will you employ and
learning activities will you give?
d. What resources or learning
materials will you need to facilitate
teaching and learning of these
competencies?
