The document provides feedback from an observation of Ali-Rose Langer's third teaching visit at Phoenix Primary School. The observer notes that Ali-Rose had a nice introduction, guided the lesson well with questions and a PowerPoint, and maintained good classroom management strategies. Areas for improvement included occasional inflection in her voice and ensuring instructions are slow and controlled during meditation. Overall, the observer felt Ali-Rose navigated the classroom well, created engaging activities, and addressed a student who was upset in a sensitive manner. The observer concludes by providing tips for Ali-Rose's internship, such as setting goals, starting required documents early, and collecting evidence for teaching standards throughout.

Good start to the lesson with some questions about what they have been doing and recap on the lessons. Powerpoint helped to guide you through this. Just a couple of times where you had some inflection in your voice. You wouldn’t know how unwell you are feeling- good acting! Great you are navigating around the classroom to position yourself near the student that wasn’t following instructions during the meditation. Nice reading of the mediation passage, just keep it slow and controlled. Nice activity with the feelings “pass the parcel” looked fun and great you improvised with humming when the tech didn’t work. Good to see lots of low key management strategies to help manage the behaviour of the students. Having the instructions on the board was a good way to keep you concise in your descriptions. A good strategy to employ when you are nervous. Nice use of the behavior board you have created. Very consistent. Good that you are breaking up the activity with some directions. Good movement around the class to monitor the students, encourage and ask questions. The task cards are a great idea, I hear the students are responsible for them. Good work. Good dealing with the student that was upset. Nice idea to send her with a friend to get a tissue and give her a break. Many of our younger students get very tired at this time of the term! Plenary- up/down was a good idea with some nice questioning to determine student understanding.
For your internship
- Talk to your mentor on the internship about your goals at the beginning. - Start Personal Philosophy and Situational Analysis (Context) as early as you can - Start FPDs early. Remember these are supposed to be dynamic, keep versions as evidence for GTPA. - Start assessment early, this will help to inform the changes you make to the FPD. Remember informal and formal feedback. - Work through each of the AITSL standards and think about what evidence you can collect for each standard. Try not to leave this until the last minute.
