In order to validate the Nieto’s identified structures in school that affects students
learning: Our group conducted survey questionaires. We used instruments; the questionaire itself
and the respondents. This paper gathered ten Licensed Professional Teachers came from
different public schools and ten students from public schools.
To ascertain the appropriate scoring & interpretation of data yielded in this study, the
four (4) scales and their corresponding interpretation is used. It also used a 4-point-likert scale
will be use to test validation of Nieto’s identified structures. These are follows:

Range Verbal Interpretation Scale

1.00 – 1.74 Highly Disagree 1
1.75 – 2.49 Disagree 2
2.50 – 3.24 Agree 3
3.25 – 4.00 Highly Agree 4

This part presents the data together with their analysis and interpretation supported by
statistics as found in the accompanying tables. Obtained results were compared in order to have
more interpretations of data. Based on the task given we are tasked to validate Nieto’s identified
structures in school namely; Tracking, Curriculum, Pedagogy, Physical Structure, Disciplinary
Practices, Limited Role of Students, Limited Role of Teachers, and Limited Parent and Limited
Parent and community Involvement.

Table 1. The assessment of the students for the Nieto’s identified structures in school that affects
their learning.

Nieto’s identified factors Mean Interpretation

1. Tracking 2.6 Agree
2. Testing 2.4 Disagree
3. Curriculum 3.2 Agree
4. Pedagogy 2.5 Disagree
5. Physical Structure 2.2 Disagree
6. Disciplinary Practices 2.6 Agree
7. Limited role of students 2.6 Agree
8. Limited role of teachers 3.0 Agree
9. Limited Parent and
2.5 Disagree
community Involvement
TOTAL 2.62 Agree

Table 1 shows the mean status of the survey questions for the students in terms of Nieto’s
Identified Factors. It shows that the indicators 3 stating “Curriculum” has the highest mean of 3.2
and it interpreted as “Agree”.However, indicator 5 stating “Physical Structure” has the lowest
mean of 2.2 and it interpreted as “Disagree”. The overall computed mean status of the survey
question for the students in terms of Nieto’s Identified Factors was 2.62 and it interpreted as
“Agree”
In relation to the result of the survey curriculum as stated by Erjohn Sarmiento says that
“Curriculum is the most affected factors in students learning because the learning of the students
will depend upon its atmosphere. Lacking in subjects comprising a course of study will greatly
affect the capacity of student to extract the wide range of knowledge and understanding on a
particular course while giving quality curriculum will develop the skills and capabilities of a
student’s.”Another reason is from Andrei Malanay a college student says that “Para sa akin
In addition, a reason from a teacher says that the curriculum is the aspect that affects
students learning the most because it is the framework by which teachers and school
administration follow to ensure that the learning objectives are met.
Table 2. The assessment of the teachers for the Nieto’s identified structures in school that affects
their teaching.

Nieto’s identified factors Mean Interpretation

1. Tracking 2.6 Agree
2.Testing 2.4 Disagree
3.Curriculum 3.0 Agree
4.Pedagogy 3.0 Agree
5.Physical Structure 2.5 Disagree
6.Disciplinary Practices 2.5 Disagree
7.Limited role of students 2.6 Agree
8.Limited role of teachers 2.8 Agree
9.Limited Parent and 2.8 Agree
community
TOTAL 2.69 Agree

Table 2 shows the mean status of the survey questions for the teachers in terms of Nieto’s
Identified Factors. It shows that the indicators 3 and 4 stating “Curriculum & Pedagogy” both
have highest mean of 3.0 and they are interpreted as “Agree”.
However, indicator 2 stating “Testing” has the lowest mean of 2.4 and it interpreted as
“Disagree”.
The overall computed mean status of the survey questions for the teachers in terms of
Nieto’s Identified Factors was 2.64 and it interpreted as “Disagree”.
Furthermore, according to Jeaneth Sobrepena in Sta.Catalina National Highschool,
pedagogy or teacher's way of teaching is the most affect the student learning because this will
test the ability of the teacher to hook the attention of his students and also will test if the
implemented teaching techniques are really help the student for a better learning.
Moreover, according to Justine Omambac, the structure that affects student's learning the
most is pedagogy, because it is the teacher or the facilitator of learning primary concern is to
adapt to students educational needs. He/she should be flexible in accommodating the other
factors that affect student's learning.
In conclusion, the curriculum and pedagogies, the ones affecting the factors in learning
English language, are both essential in developing the ability of the learners to cope with
English. It is through the step by step process indicated in the curriculum and performed by
teachers that learners find their own approach in learning English. In addition, these two
especially the style or techniques that teachers use are those that shape students' interest in
learning the second language (universal language).

In the results given above, it is proven that Nieto’s identified structures are validated. It
can affect both students and teachers but somehow this survey show which factors had affect
more among all the other aspect. As for the given statement of the respondents it evidently shows
how this factors can affect teaching so as the learning. Unlike wise, it was said then that some
were slightly affecting the learning and teaching of the students.
