SOCIAL SCIENCE

Social science, in it's broadest sense, is the study of society and the manner in
which people behave and influence the world around us. Social Science tells us
about the world beyond our immediate experience and can help explain how
our own society work from the causes of unemployment or what helps the
economic growth, to how and why people vote, or what makes people happy.
Through social science, we would be able to find out why this phenomenon and
events occur in our society or in the world. It provides vital information for the
people in the government which is under political science, another example of
social science.

EXAMPLES OF SOCIAL SCIENCE

ANTHROPOLOGY- the study of humans and human behavior.

ARCHAELOGY- the study of human activity through the recovery and analysis of
material culture.

COMMUNICATION STUDIES- it deals with the process of human communication

commonly defined as the sharing pf symbols to create meaning.

HISTORY- the study of past events.

POLITICAL SCIENCE- the systematic study of governance by the application of

empirical and generally sciemtific methods of analysis.

IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL SCIENCE

* Knowing this examples of social science and its purposes, we may come to a
point that social science helps us in many ways, it helps us discover and learn
about the past, it teaches us the laws and rights that we should have. Social
science has a lot of function and help to our society because it maintains the
peace and order in people and also in the society. Social science is important
because it is considered as he generator of information and knowledge, when
we say generator it simply means that it is the source and it holds the
explanation and information about the humans and its behaviour.
APPLIED SOCIAL SCIENCE

Applied social sciences involves the study of the society we live in, and the
relationships people have within that society. This applied social science degree
is built around the core disciplines of psychology and sociology, providing the
best possible launching pad for a career in these fascinating areas. Our teaching
is underpinned by research and real-world experience, so that you are prepared
for a career in your chosen field. Approachable, friendly staff, and relatively
small group sizes create a more informal learning environment, which is valued
highly by our students. Innovative elective modules in the final years allow you
to tailor your degree around your own areas of interest; preparing you for a
rewarding career in your field of interest.

Applied social sciences are those academic social science disciplines, professions
and occupations which seek to use basic social science knowledge, particularly
from sociology, economics and political science, and to a lesser extent
psychology, social psychology and anthropology to make an impact on the daily
life of communities, organizations and persons. Some authorities would also
include portions of economics, and in particular economic analysis and
economic planning as applied social sciences. (Others tend to see economics not
as a social but as natural science, more comparable in some respects to physics.)

Social work, public health, urban planning, and public administration may have
been the original applied social sciences in the U.S. All arose out of social reform
movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Management, community
organization, social planning, policy analysis, epidemiology, community
medicine, and strategic planning are some of the many related applied social
sciences to arise from this base.In each case, applied social science concerns (in
particular, the use of social research findings) are intermixed with technical,
engineering, aesthetic and other concerns and questions.

The practice of politics is an applied social science only to the extent that
political action seeks to apply the insights of political research or theory in
practice. The use of survey research techniques in estimating the impact of
political campaigns for elected office is one such application in widespread use.
IMPORTANCE OF APPLIED SOCIAL SCIENCE

* It called as an applicator in social studies because it helps people develop their

skills and improve their capabilities, through applied social science, a person
may undergo counseling, attend seminars by the social workers, and learn urban
planning. Applied social science is a big help to people because it teaches us the
things around our society and molds us to be better people in our society or
country.
