Age Criteria: Appearing in the JEE (Main)
examination there is no age limit for the
candidates. The candidates who have
passed XII examination in 2017, 2018 or
appearing in 2019 irrespective of their age
can appear in JEE (Main) Examination –
2019. The candidates should satisfy
themselves about the eligibility of age limit
requirements of the Institutes in which
he/she is desirous of taking admission.

secured at least 75% marks in the Class
12th examination, or be in the top 20%tile
in the 12th class examination conducted by
the respective Boards. For SC/ST

All About
What is JoSAA..?
• The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is responsible for the
counseling of JoSAA which provides admissions into the
participating IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Allocation of seats is done
by the admission committee on the basis of merit of the candidate.
All of the candidates who have qualified either JEE Main or JEE
Advanced examination had to register themselves online for the
counseling of JoSAA.
• Seats are allotted in online mode as per the merit and academic
programmed selected by the candidate in order of preference.
Following the allotment, the candidates have to visit the reporting
centers for document verification. Finally, the candidates will have to
report at their allotted institute for admission confirmation.

• Q -Will PIO/ OCI card holders eligible for
getting admission through JoSAA?
• A - Yes, PIO(person of Indian origin) / OCI

(overseas citizen of India) card holders will
be eligible for getting admission into NITs/
IIITs/ GFTIs on the basis of their JEE Main
2019 ranks and in IITs based on their JEE
Advanced 2019 ranks.
• Q - Will I be allowed to reshuffle the
choices at any stage of seat allotment?
• A - The reshuffling of choices will only be

during choice filling period before
these choices are locked. No candidate
will be allowed to reorder the choices
selected after the specified time period.
• Q - Will I have to pay any fees for
registration and filling up choices?
• A - No, there will be no fees for

registration and filling up of choices.
• Q - Suppose, I have accepted my seat in
NIT/ IIIT/ GFTI in round 1; now I got an
offer from an IIT in subsequent rounds.
What will happen to my previously allotted
seat?
• A - In this case, your accepted seat in NIT,

IIIT or GFTI will be treated as forfeited.
• Q - What to do if I do not want to accept
the allotted seat?
• A - In such a case, you:

 Should not pay the requisite seat acceptance fee (and
not report at the reporting center)
 Should not report at the Reporting Center, If the seat
acceptance fee has already been remitted.
• Q - What is an “academic program”
referred to in seat allocation?
• A - In the context of seat allocation,

“academic program” refers to the
combination of course and Institute. For
example, 4-year B.Tech in Biotechnology
offered by NIT Calicut is an “academic
program”.
• Q- What types of seat quotas are available
for admission into NITs?
• A- There are two types of seat quotas in
