REFLECTION ON CLASSROOM OBSERVATION

First, my cooperating teacher showed me her lesson plan for her topic. I observed

that she used 4 A’s lesson plan in her discussion. She said that I am going to use this

lesson plan too. I am really glad because 4 A’s lesson plan is what I am used to do in my

previous demonstration. After that we went to the first class. I observed that their

classroom is very conducive to learn especially it is located in second floor. Fresh air

entered their room. As I am introduced by my cooperating teacher Ma’am Kristine Gay

Ramos in front of the first class that I will be handle which is in section Dakak, I am

eager to meet them as soon as possible. My cooperating teacher told me that she will

show me first how she executed the discussion while I am observing her at the back. The

first thing she did was to greet them actively. I was amused by the response of the

students because they were so active and I saw in their eyes that they really want to learn.

They also greeted me showing respect for an observer they met for the first time. After

Ma’am Kristine greeted them, I saw that without Ma’am Kristine order, they

automatically arranged they chairs properly and I know that they were seating according

to their arrangement for the English subject. I can really say with their actions that they

were properly trained for that since Grade 7. Through that, I am really glad to handle

them and I know that I can accommodate them because they were polite when speaking

and respectful. After that, Ma’am Kristine asked them some questions from their previous

lesson as a way of her strategy for recalling what they have learned. From that moment, I

saw the real scenario inside a classroom. Not all students were raising their hands but I

saw some students who were actively participating. I noted to myself that not all students
are the same. Some of them knew what you were talking about but I also knew that there

was a big factor that hindered them to participate. I can’t say that the students who were

not raising their hands were probably weak in the subject but I know that sometimes they

were shy to raise their hands. By that reason, as a teacher all we need to do is to approach

them kindly as what I saw from my CT. While recalling their previous topic, she always

called the students who were not raising their hands. If the students cannot answer, she

asked new questions that was easy and related to the question she asked first. She will not

gave up until the students answered her question. That is her one technique to let the

students understand their previous lesson if ever they forgot the lesson they tackled. After

that, she proceed to the main discussion. I saw that my cooperating teacher is a very

effective teacher. She spoke fluently in English so that the students can adopt her proper

way of speaking. The same thing as what she did in Boracay. She used the same method

in teaching. After that I observed that in her assessment method, she gave short quiz but it

doesn’t ended with that. While checking, she reviewed all the included items from the

topic and discussed it again. By that the students will remember every single detail of the

discussion.

After observing what my cooperating teacher did in front while teaching, I

realized that being a teacher is not so easy. We need to face every day our students with a

smile on our lips so that the flow of the lesson from the start will remain good until the

last minute. I also realized that the more the students are not participating actively, we

need to approach them in a nice way because we can’t say that the student doesn’t have

learning or they just have a problem. We need to know the story behind because we as a

teacher is the second mother of all the students especially they spend more time with us
than with their parents at home. We are the role model of them. We are the one who will

shape and mold them to be successful person in the future. We must love our students and

we must not show favoritism with them. Treat them equally and if ever that they need

help, don’t hesitate to approach them. But always remember that we have a limitations.

We must build a relationship with so that there are no factors that will hinder them to

approach us but always put in our mind that they are students and we are teachers.
