What you learned: Once again, I underestimated how much time I would need to create
something I figured would be so simple to make. Having to overlap shapes and use
different, more complicated techniques to create a classroom. It definitely helped build a
better foundation for how to use the same drawing program I used to make my Truss
bridge; I was able to learn more efficient techniques that helped speed up the process, and
was able to make a high school classroom that wasn’t just a square with a lineup of desks.
Application of Skills Learned for the Future: I faced a lot of issues right at the start,
where I had difficulty finding a way to overlap the lines without having pesky tidbits
hanging over, and spending a good ten minutes adjusting something before I realized I just
needed to delete it and paste something else there instead. It was definitely a lot easier
now that I had the Truss bridge giving me prior experience with the program, and I didn’t
have much trouble setting up the structure of my classroom, as I was inspired by the many
classrooms I attended during my time in high school. I feel like this would be helpful to not
only teachers but students as well. Teachers can use this to help set up their own
classrooms, but this could also be a thought-provoking creative thinking exercise. If I
could do this with students, I may just ask them to create a room instead of a classroom,
possibly relating to something we may read in class. Such as “A modern Romeo’s
bedroom” and the like.
