Students will learn all about the letter “Y” in this alphabet centered lesson
plan!
Students will be able to sound out, write and recognize alphabet “Y”

There is a Yak that teachers know


His friends all call him Yippy.
He comes to school on Mondays, Yes
Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays, Yes
He likes school on Fridays best
Yippy the Yellow Yak

Yesterday he acted yuck and trashed up the whole school yard


He tied yard up and down the swing
Yanked my yo-yo and broke the swing

He yelled and messed up everything


Yippy the Yellow Yak
Yippy was in trouble then with all his friends and teachers
Monday he stopped being bad
Tuesday and Wednesday he was glad
Thursday and Friday what fun he had
Yippy the Yellow Yak!!!

1. I will start my session by telling the story of yellow the yippee yak.
2. While telling story more emphasize will be given on Y related words.

understanding should my students have?)

Students will be able to sound out, write and recognize alphabet “Y”.
SESSION DETAILS (What is your step by step guidance for the
session?)
1. I will start my session by telling the story of yellow the yippee yak.
2. While telling story more emphasize will be given on Y related words and
will be written on board.
3. Students will be asked what is common among the words written on
board.
4. Will ask students to say new words starting from Y.
5. Teacher will write uppercase Y on the board and show students how to
write Y in four line.
6. Students will be given my skill book of capital alphabets to write Y.
7. Teacher will observe students writing and will guide them if necessary.
8. For students who finish early they will be given clay and will be asked to
make upper and lowercase Y.
9. I will close my session by singing phonic rhyme of “Y”.
