Description of Business

Baker Boyz is a Partnership team of innovative energized young entrepreneurs from St.
Leonard’s Boys’ School collaborating with the Small Business Association specializing in the
production of cupcakes and cookies. With limited culinary and baking skills at inception, our
products were limited to cupcakes and brownies. Training in food preparation and baking,
enabled the expansion of our selection to include sugar cookies, cakes and our signature
Baker Boyz rock cakes.

Mission Statement

Our long-term goal is to continue to upgrade both our technical and strategic skills to support
continuous growth of expansion and diversification. Above all, we are dedicated to creating a
dynamic environment so compelling, that our customers, suppliers and co-workers will want
to participate in achieving mutual success.

Business Objectives

 To provide high quality products that will satisfy the taste buds of our valued customers.

 To gain and hold the respect and loyalty of customers while achieving sufficient profit to
finance our partnership and its growth.

 To create a healthy working atmosphere where every employee is provided the opportunity to
develop to their maximum potential.

3
Justification of Location

Baker Boyz is located at the St. Leonards Boy’s School where we were first established.

We are located in this vicinity for three main beneficial reasons:

 Our target market is St. Leonard’s Boys students, as well as teachers and students who attend
lessons making our main customers within the school.

 The school facilitated us by giving us permission to operate from the Home Economics Room
which also provides baking equipment.

 The school is quiet and peaceful on weekends and after school. Allowing us to work
efficiently.

Sources of Fixed and Working Capital

Fixed Capital

Assets or capital investments that are needed to start up and conduct business, even at a
minimal stage. These assets are considered fixed in that they are not used up in the actual
production of a good or service, but have a reusable value.

Examples of Fixed Capital in the business are:

We were offered a grant from the Small Business Association (SBA). Also all the employees
contributed $100 each which was used as our starting capital. The capital was used for the
purchasing of ingredients to help us start off our production. Also we had loan from the SBA
this was also used to purchase ingredients.

Working Capital

The capital of a business that is used in its day-to-day trading operations.

Our examples of Working Capital are:

Our sources of working capital would be cash left back from day to day operations and a sum
of $200 dollars by the business individuals and also the grant from the SBA of any sum of
money we need to get us on our feet. This capital would be used to buy bags for our products,
ingredients, paper to print our flyers and lastly to buy our own custom design T-shirts.

all the risk and reward of a given business venture, idea, or good or service offered for sale.

 Determine the objectives of the business enterprise.

 Funding of the business to carry out its operations.

product and selling them within our school environment.

10
Quality Control Measures

To ensure that our products meet the requirements of our customer’s quality control measures
have been implemented. These quality control measures are:

 The use of refrigeration to guarantee the quality of the products. Refrigeration has

Two types of technology used in our business are:

 The uses of Computers and Cell Phones for the benefit of social media advertising
such as facebook, instagram, whatsApp and twitter. And also for the communication
between our employees.

 The use of a printer.

The benefits of these technologies are:

 Communication technology will allow us to keep in touch with each other, allowing
us to plan work or non work hours and keeping track of upcoming events to showcase
our products. These devices will also help us in the advertising of our products to our
customers and give a positive outlook on the developing of the business.

 A printer is an essential piece of technology used in our business, it is used to print

flyers and business documents such as pamphlets used at events, to print our labels,
posters. It is also used to print the financial position of the business by the accountant.

12
Linkages

delivery time to the business, also we will benefit from the cheap prices of these
stores. This will also create and firm relationship with our suppliers.
