SuperCool: Automatic

Service Information No. 09/2006 CBP(es) 3656 / 4056
The CBP(es) is a combined refrigerator-BioFresh-freezer. The appliance is equipped with a standard compressor
with solenoid valve. The refrigerator compartment is cooled using a foamed-in rear wall evaporator and the freezer
compartment using a SmartFrost system (compartment liner enveloped by evaporator tube ). The refrigerator and
freezer compartment evaporators are activated via a bi-stable solenoid valve. Both evaporators are connected in
series (see 3.3 Schematic diagram: Refrigerating circuit). Therefore the refrigerator compartment can be
operated only in conjunction with the freezer compartment. However, it is possible to operate the freezer
compartment on its own.
A d.c. fan is used for temperature adjustment between refrigerator compartment and BioFresh compartment.
The fan is integrated in the vertical separating plate.
If the refrigerator compartment requires refrigeration (detection by refrigerator compartment air sensor), the fan
is switched on. The fan takes in warm air from the front and blows it past the evaporator in a downward
direction. The air that is now cold is conducted past the BioFresh drawers upwards into the refrigerator
compartment.
When it is sufficiently cold in the refrigerator compartment, the fan is switched off. The compressor continues
running and the BioFresh drawers are statically cooled by the falling coldness. The compressor operates until
such time as the air in the BioFresh compartment is cold enough (detection by BioFresh air sensor).

The freezer compartment is realized with a SmartFrost system, i.e. the evaporator tube is wound around the
freezer compartment liner.

Defrosting: Automatic during standstill phase of the compressor. Automatic when solenoid
valve is set to position B (freezer compartment).
Defrost water channel Position: Foamed in in the area of the defrost water channel.
heater:
Function: ON: 5 min. after the solenoid valve has switched to position A
(refrigerator/BioFresh + freezer compartment).
Air sensor: Position: Clipped into sensor holder on the ceiling of the freezer
compartment
liner.
Function: - Freezer compartment air sensor or refrigerator BioFresh
compartment evaporator sensor
switches the compressor on.
- Freezer compartment air sensor and BioFresh compartment air
sensor
switch the compressor off.
- Forms the freezer compartment display value.

To sum up:
To check actuation of the solenoid valve, we recommend using the service menu (see 9.2 Service mode). Here
the switching of the solenoid valve can be clearly heard.
Sealing strip 1 (Fig. 6.2/ 1 and Fig. 6.2/ 2) serves to seal off the air current, as otherwise the switching value of
the refrigerator compartment air sensor is invalidated.

The direction of installation (direction of air current) is indicated by an arrow. The arrow (Fig. 6.3) has to point in the
direction of the compartment liner (rear wall of appliance).
