CERTIFICATION

March 18, 2018

To the concerned:

This is to certify that Mrs. VALYN R. ENCARNACION, Teacher III in Tungal Elementary School,
Tungal, San Luis, Batangas has had COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT as stated below:

1. Egg-laying female hens (referred to herein as “chickens”) are a great way to engage
families in the garden, especially in rural. It generates excitement among the entire
community. Additionally, chickens provide families with an opportunity to better
understand how to properly care for and establish a positive relationship with animals.
While the benefits are many, chickens do require vigilant care and attention .
2. Poultry and in particular chickens are commonly kept by 90–95% of the households in the
rural areas. The number usually ranges from 3 to 6 hens per family unit.
3. The purpose of raising chickens is to provide protein for the family and sale for cash
income. Chicken raising is very popular among rural people because of the small
investment and short time to income. These are the reasons why my family raises
chicken in our backyard. We have around 17 chickens housed in a chicken coop.
4. Many hens lay their first egg around 18 weeks of age and then lay up to an egg each day.
5. The egg-ticipation nearly every day brings a moment of celebration.

What benefits do we get in raising chickens?

A. They are endless, and far outweight just having fresh eggs for breakfast every day.
They contribute to the health of the garden, the health of the soil and lawn. Soil
aeration is one of the benefit they give because chickens naturally scratch and dig
the soil. They too are weed killers.
B. Another benefit is that it provides protein for the family and sale for cash income.
C. Chicken manure is an excellent source of organic fertilizer
D. They are a natural insecticide

How much do we get from the sale?

A. With the number of chickens we have, we harvest around 5 trays a week. Say, a
chicken lays one egg a day. Let’s do the math
18 (no. of chickens x 7 days = 126 eggs/week
126 ÷ 24 (eggs in a tray) = 5 trays in a week (harvest)
B. We sell 4 trays in a week. The remainder 1 tray is for our consumption
C. One tray is priced Php150.00 4 trays x 150.00 = Php600.00 per week

2…/
What do I do with the money derived from it?
A. The Php600.00 goes to my two kids as their everyday “baon” and to buy school
supplies and materials they needed when they have projects.

Attached herewith are pertinent documentation to prove this claim.

This certification is issued to Mrs. Encarnacion for whatever legal purpose it may serve her best.
