FD M5 KB3 BHN AJAR

Hi all, ........Hope you are still awake to have a discussion on the following issues

1. What are the important roles of teaching materials?

2. Do you think you already use teaching materials which are in line with the definition of teaching materials? Why do you think so?
Do you have the evidence?

3. What are the characteristics of good teaching materials? Could you give an example of each?

4. What are the stages of developing teaching materials? Do you develop your own teaching mate rials? Why?

5. Which stage do you think is the most difficult to be done by the teacher? How do you solve the difficulties?

Evening, bu Hasti
Here my answer for FD M5 KB3
1. Teaching materials are very important for teachers and students in the learning process. Without teaching materials it would be
difficult for teachers to improve the effectiveness of learning. Likewise with students, without teaching materials it will be
difficult to adjust to learning, especially if the teacher teaches the material quickly and less clearly. Therefore, teaching
materials are considered as material that can be utilized, both by teachers and students, as an effort to improve the quality of
learning, explained the role of teaching materials for teachers and students.
2. Yes ido. Because, definition of Teaching materials or learning materials, are teaching materials that are packaged as material to
be presented in the learning process. Learning materials in the presentation are in the form of descriptions which contain facts
and principles, norms which are related to rules, values and attitudes, as well as a set of actions / motor skills. Thus, learning
materials basically contain knowledge, values, attitudes, actions and skills that contain messages, information, and illustrations
in the form of facts, concepts, principles, and processes that are related to a particular subject that is directed at achieving
learning goals. Yes I think so, because viewed from the aspect of function, learning materials can be divided into two groups,
namely as learning resources that are used directly and as learning resources that are used indirectly. As a learning resource
that is used directly, learning materials are the main teaching material that is a mandatory reference in learning. Yes I do have
the evidences for examples are textbooks, modules, handouts, and other main guide materials. Learning materials are
developed referring to the applicable curriculum, especially those related to curriculum objectives and materials such as
competencies, material standards and indicators of achievement.
As a learning resource that is used indirectly, learning material is a supporting material that functions as a complement.
Examples are reading books, magazines, video programs, leaflets, posters and teaching comics. These learning materials are
generally arranged outside the scope of curriculum material, but have a close relationship with the main goal of providing
deepening and enrichment for students.
3. The characteristics of good teaching materials include:
self-instructional,
self-explanatory power,
self-pace learning,
self-contained,
individualized learning materials,
flexible and mobile learning materials,
communicative and interactive,
adaptive, and user friendly,
example,
Handouts that can be used for reference material, motivating, reminding, giving feedback, and evaluating learning outcomes.
Student worksheets (LKS), digital modules, e-learning, audio learning programs, learning communities on social media and
others.
4. The process of developing teaching materials in general can take steps: 1) identifying learning objectives, 2) outlining or
formulating material outlines, 3) writing complete material, and 4) determining the format and layout (lay-out).
Yes, I developed my own teaching material because I had to adjust to the characteristics of my class which differed according to
the learning experience of students, the economic background of social status and the learning style of my students.
Consisting of three stages, namely analysis of the curriculum, analysis of learning resources, and determination of the type and
title of teaching materials.
1. The first step, Analyzing the Curriculum
we even learn five things as follows:
First, standard competence, namely the qualifications of the minimum abilities of students who describe the masteryof
attitudes, knowledge and skills expected to be achieved in each semester.
Second, basic competency, namely a number of abilities that must be possessed by students in certain subjects as a reference
for developing competency indicators.
Third, indicators of achievement of learning outcomes. Indicator is the formulation of specific competencies, which can be used
as a reference criterion in determining whether or not someone is competent.
Fourth, the main material, namely a number of key information, knowledge, skills, or values arranged in such a way that
students carry out the competencies that have been set.
Fifth, learning experience, which is an activity designed by educators to be carried out by students so that they can control the
competencies that have been determined through the learning activities held.
2. I have to Analyze learning resources because the criteria for learning resources are based on Availability, Conformity and
ease in using them. The way is to inventory the availability of learning resources in my school that are associated with needs.
3. because I have to choose and find teaching materials.
with three principles, namely
o First, the principle of relevance.
o Both Principles of Contention
o Third, the principle of sufficiency.
5. The most difficult stages is determining the format and layout (lay-out).
I also have to understand the criteria for selecting learning resources
To facilitate the process of selecting learning resources that are suitable for my students:
1. General Criteria:
a. Economical, adjusting the economic level of my students, learning resources are not expensive.
b. Practical and simple, considering the location of my school in a remote area, learning resources do not require difficult
service or procurement.
c. Easy to get
d. Flexible.
2. The most important specific criteria for the character of my student students; Learning resources can motivate students in
learning.
b. Learning resources for teaching purposes, Learning resources to solve problems, as well as learning resources for
presentations.

That’s all. Thank you
