1. GENERAL
The VEGA T is a flow computer controls and automates product handling. It also displays the quantities involved, compensates for any error and non linearity
introduced by the meter, and thus guarantees the exactness of the measurement within the limits laid down by regulations.
Its main features are as follows:
 Adaptability of the unit for use with any meter, as many of its working parameters are programmable. The user can thus activate or deactivate certain
functions as required
 Ease to use by the operator, as all operations are controlled and their correctness checked before they are implemented
 Pre-setting of the quantities to be dispensed
 Automatic correction of both static and dynamic meter errors
 Automatic volume compensation as a function of the measured liquid temperature
 Real-time display of quantities dispensed. This applies to both partial quantities, i.e. those related to the loading operation taking place, and to total
quantities, which are recorded on an electronic totalizer that cannot be reset
 Continuous monitoring of current flow and temperature values
 Self-diagnostic check of all parts of the device at switch-on and during operation
 Continuous monitoring and signalling of any malfunctions due to the absence of enabling signals during dispensing
 Availability of five external lines for communicating with a remote computer and a printer, using either RS 232 / RS485 / RS422.
1.1. RECEIPT OF EQUIPMENT
When the equipment is received the packaging should be checked immediately for any shipping damage. If the packaging has been damaged the local carrier
should be notified evidencing the problem. Then with cure open the pack and verify that the equipment is not damaged or that they do not lack the parts. If a
damaging is found or lacks the parts send report of the state of the equipment to ISOIL IMPIANTI SPA.
Before being installed the equipment must be stored in its original pack and protected.
1.2. WARRANTY
Instruments are guaranteed for twelve months for the date of delivery.
Warranty cover only defective parts and faulty workmanship and doesn't cover defects due to wearing, dirt, modification and alteration of the instrument not
authorized by Isoil Impianti S.p.A.
Warranty is given free of charge ex our works.
Warranty of instruments and accessories not manufactured by Isoil Impianti S.p.A., will be covered by warranty of the sub supplier.
Warranty is valid only if original spares are used and is invalidated in case of improper use or not following the technical specification of the instrument.
Only Isoil Impianti S.p.A. has the right to decide if the warranty can be applied.
If the purchasing order calls for different warranty conditions, above stated conditions are super seeded.

2. SAFETY INFORMATIONS
 The VEGA T must only be installed by process qualified electricians or electronics engineers who must apply all the
indications inserted in this manual.
 This equipment, if not installed and used in accordance with this instruction manual, may cause interference to radio
communications and also can be noised from them.
 Some parts of the instruments (such as circuit boards) may be damaged by static electricity. Therefore, when carrying
out any work that involves the risk of static damage to the instrument you must wear an earthed wrist strap at all times

2.1. SAFETY NOTE - INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION AND REPAIR IN HAZARDOUS AREA
The electronic counter VEGA T shall be installed & maintained according to the applicable standards regarding electrical installations in hazardous area classified
zone 1 or zone 2 (example: EN60079-14, EN60079-17 etc).
The inspection and maintenance of installations shall be carried out by experienced personnel only, whose training has included instructions on various types of
protection and installation practices, the relevant rules and regulations and on the general principles of area classification.
The installation people and the user moreover shall get knowledge of the risks due to the electrical installations and to the chemical and physical characteristics
of gases and vapours presents in the working area, being been formed and informed for the installation, the use and the maintenance in explosion dangerous
zones.
Before the installation READ CAREFULLY the INSTRUCTION MANUAL of the electronic counter VEGA T.
The gap and diametrical clearances are less than the values specified in the tables 1 of the standard EN 60079-1.
The width of flameproof joints is more than the values specified in the tables of the standard EN 60079-1.
The user:
 must clean periodically the external surface in order to avoid the forming of a layer of powders, that never can be more than 5 mm thick.
 must verify the integrity and the wear of the o-ring seal and if necessary substitute it with an original one.
 shall not perform any unauthorized modification of the apparatus.
 the gap and diametrical clearances are less than the values specified in the tables 1 of the standard EN 60079-1.
 the width of flameproof joints is more than the values specified in the tables of the standard

In case of any fault the authorised technician must:


 Switch off the power supply to the unit
 Open the housing avoiding that rain or dust can enter and putting the screws in safe position
 Disconnect one wire at a time after having market its position
 Remove the board by unscrewing the four screws
 Substitute the board with a new one
 Restore the wiring
 Clean the joints and spread a thin layer of silicone grease on the o-ring seal
 Close the cover by screwing all the original screws; in case of lost screws replace them with new ones having minimum quality 8.8
 Switch on the unit
The substituted board has to be sent to ISOIL IMPIANTI for repair. Only original spares can be used.
Any alteration to apparatus shall be not carried out without appropriate manufacturer’s authorization
Use cable entries and accessories EC type certified and protection degree IP66 EN 60079-1.
The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by incorrect or unauthorised use. Conversions and changes to the instrument must not be made,
otherwise the certification and guarantee become invalid.

DO NOT OPEN IF AN EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE IS PRESENT


USE SCREWS HAVING MINIMUM QUALITY 8.8

Above warning are reported on the plate; the installing position of the unit must allow an easy reading.

3. INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOUNTING
Before to mount VEGA T the following recommendations have to be considered:
1. VEGA T mounting position has to be chosen to allow easy opening and wiring
2. The position must avoid damages caused from the passage of the trucks but also to assure good visibility of the indications
3. Avoid exposing the device to the rain and to the solar beams directly: a simple canopy of protection is to be forecast
4. Mounting has be done by using the 4 silent blocks located under the housing (see fig.2)
5. Before opening the device read the safety instructions at paragraph 2
6. The opening is done by removing the 14 screws that close the cover (see fig.2) – Take attention that the gasket remains in its own position.

In order to prevent VEGAT buffer battery from being completely depleted, it is necessary to
connect VEGAT to power network for 24 hours straight at least once per month.
Buffer battery is used to maintain in memory the delivery data and parameters customization.
WARNING

5. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
VEGAT is provided with 7 cable entries. The five left side entries are foreseen for power supply, pulses from encoder, output for valves, etc. The two right side
cable entries can be used only for the intrinsically safe connections (PT100, digital inputs).
Take care to choose accessories threaded ISO 7/1 (UNI 6125-74) .
VEGAT is delivered with gland entries closed by plastic threaded screw-caps. These threaded screw-caps must be removed and the not utilized entries must be
closed with metallic screws-plugs conforming to EN60079-1 norm.

The pulses inputs (CHANNEL A and B) accept signal from:

The 5 Vdc (X5-1) and 12 Vdc (X5-5) can be used to supply external pulse
emitters.

SUGGESTIONS:
 The cables can be different types but with the same characteristics
 Suitable anti over-voltages protection devices must be considered against atmospheric (Suggested: ISOIL PL360/2)
 The communication lines must be segregated from power leading cables. Ducts must be separated
 For W&M reasons is preferable that communication lines for SPD and for other systems (PC, PLC, DCS…) are separated. Using the same multi-cable can occur
problems in case a sealing of the path is required.
 Limiting the number of the devices connected in multi-point; avoid for example to connect together all the VEGAII for the same product. Consider to use more SPD
and printers.
 Choosing cables suitable as electrical characteristics and mechanical strength.

X12 accepts wires having section from 0,25 to 1,5mm²

Use only thermal sensors type PT100 class A IEC751, DIN 43760
((0,00385/°C)).

Pt100 can be not ATEX certified because is a simple apparatus.


WARNING: The cable used to connect VEGA T with PT100 must be 4 wires.
Connect the fourth wire with the third on the connector of the PT100.

6. ASSOCIABLE ISOIL DEVICES
6.1. ISOIL PULSE EMITTER “EM6422”

Pulse emitter “Encoder EM6422”, developed by ISOIL IMPIANTI, converts the rotary motion
of a Positive Displacement Meter into electric pulses representing the delivered volume. It
allows the pdmeter to interface with an electronic control device (electronic register, flow
computer).
The pulse emitter can be factory installed directly on to the front cover af any new Isoil
pdmeter. By the use of suitable flanges it can be retrofitted onto any existing ISOIL
pdmeter, in place of the mechanical register or other pulse emitters. Installation on most
other manufacturer’s pdmeter is possible as well by means of special adaptors.
Unlike most similar devices, which use optical sensors, the EM6422 utilizes a state-of–the-art
method, that detects the rotary motion of the pdmeter’s shaft through a thin separating
wall.
The electronic circuit is placed in a sealed housing completely insulated from the process
fluid in the pdmeter. The housing is closed by a cover with o-ring seal and there is a
threaded female inlet for cable glands or counduit entrance.
In the following tables are included the nominal number of pulses for litre emitted by EM6422
when is mounted directly on the relative ISOIL METER.
The “number of pulses” must be programmed inside the parameter K-FACTOR of the
VEGAT.
