ITC hotels is India’s second largest hotel chain with over 100 hotels.
Some of the major competitors for ITC hotels in India are Leela hotels, Taj
group of hotels, Oberoi hotels. Taj hotels resorts & palaces is India’s largest
hotel chain. Some of the parameters for competitor analysis are as follows

As the major competitor for ITC hotels in India is Taj hotels resorts &
palaces they both have neck to neck competition in hospitality sectors in
India. So lets see the competitors analysis between these two hotels
company.
1) Market share –
ITC hotels and Tata’s Indian hotels company will invest strongly
over the next few years to add properties in the segment, considered
a blooming one.
ITC is planning to start atleast 40 hotels in the next few years.
Under various stages of development, the addition would take ITC’s
tally to 150. Tata group-promoted Indian hotels company limited
(IHCL), which runs hotels under four brands, including Taj, at present
has 109 properties in India and abroad; it aims to add 41 in the next
four years. ITC, which has all its hotels in India, already has the biggest
domestic tally,of 110. IHCL has 93 in India & 16 abroad.
ICHL is looking to maintain an avg rate of opening two new
properties every three months, for the next 48 months. As many as 41
new properties, with 6,500 rooms, would be added to the tally under
the brands Taj, vivanta by Taj, Gareway & Ginger, in India and six other
nation.
2) USP –
a. Taj hotels resorts palaces: Extravagant Indian Interiors.
b. ITC hotels: Five star hotels inspired by Indian heritage.
3) Revenues –
a. Taj hotels resorts & palaces: 2,710 crores.
b. ITC hotels: 2,669 crores.
4) Promotion –
Since Taj hotels are a luxury brand, it heavily relies on advocacy.
Word of mouth publicity is what is of utmost importance & the
customers tend to be loyal to the service. The promotion for the brand
includes the prime locations of the hotels, resorts & palaces. It always
chooses the best amongst the lot nd provides the best for their
customer. Taj hotels have a membership for the group of hotels and
provides promotional offers to their loyal customers. They are also
involved in TV advertisements, Direct marketing and social media
advertisements.
Promotional strategy of ITC hotels is almost similar to Taj group of
hotels.
