PROJECTS
1. SOURCE ENCODER TOOLKIT (Duration:July 2008- December 2008)
• Encoding algorithm used is Shannon Fano.
• First we have designed hardware cicuit on breadboard which implements Shannon – Fano Algorithm
using logic gates and using karnaugh maps for optimization of circuit.
• It encodes the given signal bits according to Shannon fano algorithm.
• We have also fabricated it into a PCB which is not easily available.

2. SPEECH RECOGNITION USING HMM (Duration:Jan 2009-May 2009)

• Speech signal will be given through microphone.
• Using matlab commands(MFCC) corresponding feature vectors are generated.
• Once the feature vectors are extracted we build acoustic model.
• We are using Vector Quantization-Code book as acoustic model.
• Each basic unit(Phoneme) is assigned a unique HMM
• When unknown word comes it is scored against all HMM model and HMM with maximum score is
considered as
recognised word.

 3. STUDY OF NMOS WITH HIGH K DIELECTRICS (Duration:Jul 2009-Dec 2009)
• Obtain the I-V characteristics of NMOS using SiO2 using TCAD(Athena and Atlas)
• Similarly obtain the I-V characteristics of NMOS using high k dielectric such as HfO2 TCAD(Athena and
Atlas)
• Than compare the IV characteristics of the two and study the differences and and advantages of high k
dielectric.

4. DEVELOPMENT OF MOTION CONTROLLER USING PIC MICROCONTROLLER(Duration:Feb

2010-Jun 2010)
• To study the functions of the SLO-SYN motion controller.
• To study the type of signal the drive needs to run the stepper motor.
• Than make a custom made motion controller(Indexer) which can provide the same functions.
• Finally designed the motion controller using PIC16F4431 microcontroller using the interrupt
functionaifty of the microcontroller for end detection using limit switches as sensor to detect the ends.

5. IMAGE MOSAICING USING MATLAB

In this project tool was developed using functions of image processing toolkit which can mosaic two
