This course is mainly focused on enhancing the student’s communication skills with an exposure to the
competitive world and also improving their confidence levels to face and succeed the real challenges.

Contents:

1. Nonverbal Communication:
Nonverbal Communication; Importance of Body Language; Functions of Nonverbal Communication; Types
of Nonverbal Communication; Application of Nonverbal Communication to gain a professional image.

2. Group Discussion:
Why Group Discussion? What is Group Discussion?
Evaluation Criteria; Ensuring Success in GDs.

3. Debates:
“Honest disagreement is often a good sign of progress.” Mahatma Gandhi
Emphasizes on critical thinking, effective communication, independent research and teamwork, teaches
skills that serve individuals well in fulfilling their responsibilities as citizens of democratic societies.

4. Letter Writing:
Job application letter; Bio-Data; CV; Resume; Report Writing.

5. Interview Skills:
Misconceptions about an interview; What is an interview? Preparation for an interview; Keys to success in
interviews; Attending an interview; Closing an interview; Post Interview Functions.

6. E-mail Writing and Netiquettes:


Structure of an E-mail; Preparation of an E-mail;
What is Netiquette? Why Netiquette? Netiquette Norms.

7. Interpersonal Skills:
Advertising; Writing Advertisements; Negotiation.

8. Telephonic Etiquette:
Norms to be maintained on phone; Rules and Regulations to be followed; How to talk? What to talk?
9. Common Errors:
What are the common errors committed while communicating with others? Why is it important to pay
attention to them? Why should we learn to avoid them?

10. Important Elements of Grammar:


Subject Verb Agreement; Transformation of sentences; Parts of Speech; Question Tags, etc.
(It depends on the requirement of the students after analyzing the areas they need to be explained.)
