CHECKLIST
P.180 Avanti II Normal Operations
Checklist v1.0

Disclaimer: This checklist is sourced from real


aircraft’s POH&AFM (Normal operations), and adapted to be
used with P.180 Avanti II aircraft in X-Plane 11 Flight
Simulator.

BEFORE ENGINE START

1. BATTERY switch – BAT


2. AVIONICS switch – AVIONICS
3. SYS TEST knob – PRESS Check lights
4. FUEL QTY – Check
5. PARKING BRAKE – Set (handle out and vertical)
6. SEAT BELTS switch – FAST BELT
7. POWER Levers (both) – IDLE
8. Condition Lever (both) – CUT OFF
9. EPU switch - EPU

NORMAL ENGINE START

NOTE
You can start either engine as first. For normal operations, start
the left engine first on odd days, and the right engine on even
days.

ENGINE #1 START

1. ANTI COLN light – ON


2. Power Lever – IDLE
3. Condition Lever – CUT OFF

4. Firewall shut off valve – OPEN


5. Fuel Pump – MAIN
6. Fuel Pressure light – CHECK OFF
7. BLEED AIR switch – CHECK OFF
8. IGNITION switch – CHECK NORMAL
9. Propeller – CLEAR of obstacles
10.ENG START switch – START
11.Condition Lever – (at 13% NG) Ground Idle (G.I)
12.ITT – MONITOR (1000oC max for 5 sec)
13.OIL PRESS – CHECK increasing
14.NG RPM - CHECK increasing
15.ENG START switch – CHECK OFF (at about 40% NG)
16.Condition Lever – advance to Flight Idle (F.I)
With the engine at Flight Idle, check the following
conditions:
a. ITT – 750oC MAX
b. Oil Press – 60 psi MIN
c. Oil Temp – 110oC MAX
d. NG RPM – 54% MIN
e. NP RPM – 900 RPM MIN
17.Generator switch – ON
18.HYD PUMP switch – CHECK ON

ENGINE #2 START

1. ENG #1 Condition Lever – Flight Idle


2. ENG #1 Generator – ON
3. Firewall shut off valve – OPEN
4. Fuel Pump – MAIN
5. Fuel Pressure light – CHECK OFF
6. BLEED AIR switch – CHECK OFF
7. IGNITION switch – CHECK NORMAL
8. Propeller – CLEAR of obstacles
9. ENG START switch – START
10.Condition Lever – (at 13% NG) Ground Idle (G.I)
11.ITT – MONITOR (1000oC max for 5 sec)
12.OIL PRESS – CHECK increasing
13.NG RPM - CHECK increasing
14.ENG START switch – CHECK OFF (at about 40% NG)

15.Condition Lever – advance to Flight Idle (F.I)


With the engine at Flight Idle, check the following
conditions:
a. ITT – 750oC MAX
b. Oil Press – 60 psi MIN
c. Oil Temp – 110oC MAX
d. NG RPM – 54% MIN
e. NP RPM – 900 RPM MIN
16.Generator switch – ON

BEFORE TAXI

1. AVIONICS switch – CHECK ON


2. BLEED AIR switch – SET L and R
3. CABIN PRESS – Turn Knob A to set required Cabin
Altitude
4. PITOT HTR switches – ON, L and R
5. Radios – SET
6. TRIM – SET Take off (upper edge of the green area)
7. FLAPS – SET MID
8. AUTOFEATHER - ARM
9. Landing Lights – TAXI
10.Parking brake – Release

TAXIING

1. Brakes – CHECK
2. Steering – CHECK
3. Prop Reverse – CHECK
4. Prop Feathering - CHECK
5. Flight Instrument – CHECK

ENGINE RUN UP

1. Parking Brake – SET


2. Condition Levers – MAX RPM
3. Power Levers – Advance to 2000 RPM
4. OVSP switch = Press. Check for RPM drop down to about
1750 RPM.
5. Parking Brake – Release

BEFORE TAKE OFF

1. Transponder – SET
2. Landing Lights – LDG
3. Navigation Lights – AS REQUIRED
4. Ice protection – AS REQUIRED
5. Caution and Warning lights – Check all OFF

TAKE OFF

1. Power Levers – ADVANCE to MAX PWR (Do not exceed 100%


TQ or 835oC ITT)
2. Autofeather – CHECK Armed (AFX)
3. Engine gauges – Within limits
4. Rotation – Start Rotation about 106 KIAS
5. Airspeed – Accelerate to 120 KIAS until above 50ft
6. Landing Lights (below 160 KIAS) – OFF
7. Gears (below 180 KIAS) – UP
8. Autofeather (above 150 KIAS) – OFF
9. Flaps (below 170 KIAS) – OFF

CLIMB

1. Climb power – AS REQUIRED (maintain with power levers)


2. Airspeed – AS REQUIRED (typical 160 KIAS up to FL300)
3. Seat belts – AS REQUIRED
4. Pressurization – CHECK
5. WSHLD HTR – ON

CRUISE

1. Cruise power – SET


2. Condition levers – AS REQUIRED (above 1800 RPM)
3. Airspeed – AS REQUIRED
4. Engine instruments – CHECK
5. Pressurization – CHECK

DECENT

1. WHSLD HTR – AS REQUIRED


2. Pressurization – CHECK

BEFORE LANDING

1. Seat belts – ON
2. Condition levers – MAX RPM
3. GEAR (below 180 KIAS) – DN – CHECK 3 GREEN
4. FLAPS (below 170 KIAS) – MID
5. Landing Lights (below 160 KIAS) – AS REQUIRED
6. AUTOFEATHER (below 150 KIAS) – ARM
7. FLAPS (below 150 KIAS) – DN
8. Autopilot – OFF

LANDING

Above 50 ft

1. GEAR – CHECK DN (3 green lights)


2. FLAPS – CHECK DN
3. APPROACH SPEED – AS REQUIRED (typical 120 KIAS)
4. POWER – AS REQUIRED
5. Condition levers – CHECK MAX RPM

After touchdown

6. Brakes – AS REQUIRED
7. Reverse – AS REQUIRED (engage reverse below 1900 RPM)
8. Reverse – OFF (above 40 KIAS)

AFTER LANDING

1. Power levers – IDLE or AS REQUIRED (if taxi)


2. FLAPS – UP
3. Transponder – OFF
4. Landing Lights – AS REQUIRED
5. Ice protection equipment – OFF
6. Autofeather – OFF
7. Cabin Pressure – CHECK Zero

SHUTDOWN

1. Parking brake – SET


2. Avionics switch – OFF
3. Bleed Air switches – OFF
4. Power levers – CHECK IDLE
5. Condition levers – GROUND IDLE
6. HYD PUMP – OFF
7. Condition levers – CUT OFF. Observe engines indication
dropping
8. FUEL PUMP switches – OFF
9. All electrical switches – OFF
10.BATTERY switch – OFF
11.Passenger Door - Open
