Work Environment
The Tool Shop in Neckarsulm develops and produces tools for the manufacture of body add-on components for the
entire Volkswagen Group. The number of complex geometries and new materials in body construction has increased
in the course of implementing lightweight construction concepts. Aluminum is preferred for the manufacture of
components in all areas of the body in line with reducing carbon emissions. This places high demands on the method
planning and the associated simulative feasibility study for the manufacturing process. The aim of the internship is to
systematically support the Tool Planning department with regard to the simulative analysis and validation of
individual body parts.

Job Purpose/Role
Orientation in work-related software (AutoForm, CATIA V5)
Virtual try-out: set up and evaluate forming simulations as well as optimize the input variables and the
add-on construction to ensure feasibility of the components
Examine individual body parts in the try-out area of the workshop to validate and optimize the forming
simulation
Independent test planning and execution to examine current topics in the field of sheet metal forming
Document test results and their descriptive presentation
Support the project teams in day-to-day business

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience
Studying mechanical engineering, materials science, automotive engineering or comparable fields of study
Knowledge in the field of metal forming technology and/or materials engineering
Ideally, experience in the fields of forming simulation and/or surface design
Confident user of MS Office
Self-directed and careful work practices
Able to work in a team and motivated
