Episode 1 – THE TEACHER AS A PERSON

Objective:

Gain competence in clarifying your values about teaching and in articulating and demonstrating one’s
personal philosophy of teaching. The end goal is to be a positive role model for students.

Your Task:

For you to be an effective teacher in the future it is important to first start with an awareness of your
values about teaching and then write your mission statement or philosophy that you will uphold with
conviction.

To reach objective, do the following tasks:

Ms. Caryl Dorothy Ariola’s view learning by doing or involving the
students as Confucius said “I hear and I forgot, I see and I remember,
involve me and I learned “involving the students is the most effective way
of teaching and you can easily assess who are the students that have
hard time in learning the specific lesson given because you involve the
students in what you are teaching

Which philosophies do adhere to? Why?

Progressivism, because progressivism you let the learner become the


problem solver and thinker who make meaning through his/her
individual experience in the physical and cultural context. And here the
learner is active rather than passive
