{Lam writing regarding the dispute between AT&T and several local networks in Central New
York and the Southern Tier, including WSYR in Syracuse, WFXV, WPNY, and WUTR in
Utica, and WIVT and WBGH in Binghamton.
‘This contractual dispute has resulted in the blackout of these stations for DirecTV customers in
cour area. While I understand that both of your companies are engaged in negotiations, and I will
‘not take a postion on either side of this business matter, Iam concerned with the negative impact
this blackout is having on my constituents. Families in Upstate New York rely on their local
broadcast channels for news and weather, including public safety information. These stations
provide erucial information on severe thunderstorms, flooding, and dangcrous winter weather.
‘When they go off te air, local residents are left in the dark about important issues and events
that impact ther families” safer.
encourage your companies to negotiate a fair deal that returns these channels tothe airwaves as
soon as possible. As your companies make decisions during this negotiation, Task that you keep
the best interest of my constituents in mind and do not jeopardize ther access to these vita local
networks,
Sincerly.
