The Critique of Socialism Today: An observation

Socialism is a form of economic system which has considerable appeal, acceptance, significance
and establishment in the discussion of economic theory and practice where evidently and
astonishingly, there exist various political and intellectual parties and institutions around the
world to carry on the idealism, practice and legacy of socialism.

Socialism is that fortunate philosophical economic political and social form of theory and
practice initiated by some thinkers, philosophers and visionaries, which has influenced the world
of thoughts, practice, norms and forms of different genres; created a sense of economic and
social justice, equality, equity and re-arrangement of socio-economic values, systems and
practices and transformed the thoughts, philosophies, visions and ideologies of the previous
thinkers of equity and equality into exemplary practice, materialization and implementation.

Though Socialism started its materialization in state level in the second decade of the twentieth
century in Russia, it sparked over the Eastern Europe and rest of the world with tremendous,
uncontrolled and passionate trend where it took nearly seventy years to burn and burst the flame
of socialism.

Socialism is a system which commenced with the hope, aspiration thrill and expectation of
establishing equity, equality, unity and solidarity among the common people where inhuman
foresight-less, inconsiderate and indiscriminate modes of economic, state and social activities
and dynamism in the name of development and progress have facilitated the decry, destruction,
desertification and collapse of socialism amid astute, prompt and tactful Capitalism

Though Socialism started its career as a sheer, timely and meaningful critique of capitalism and
other forms of political, economic and social ideologies; unfortunately, surprisingly and
evidently there were limitations, fallacies and weakness in the criticism of capitalism and the
other schools of thoughts, which are evident from the subsequent ups and downs of once thrilling
and transforming socialism.

Fortunately, the thoughts, philosophies and ideologies regarding socialism have molded through
evolution, unfortunately, the socialist movement, activism and dynamism have sparked through
revolution where there were lack of planned, controlled and co-ordinate efforts, action plans,
initiatives and dynamism causing drastic, unprecedented and sorrowful collapse of socialism in
the international arena.

That the light of hope, aspiration and enthusiasm once enkindled the communities and countries
of the world blasted into pessimistic and breath-taking darkness of failure, frustration and outcry
where there were thunderbolts, thundershowers, lightening, storms and tidal waves.

Consequently, socialism emerged as a surprise but not a reality, as passion, emotion and
sensation but not maturity, solidarity and strength, as gusty winds and thunderstorms but not
gentle breeze and waves of air moving, soothing and dancing the atmosphere, as jostling,
mismanagement, anarchy, indiscipline and ruthless haphazardness, but not co-ordinate, peaceful,
coherent and considerate initiatives.

Today socialism is a facilitating force to drive up the world into dynamism, development,
progress, equity, equality where there are inequality, injustice, underdevelopment, oppression,
anarchy, mismanagement and lack of coordination.

Though socialism started its journey to ensure and establish the progress, development,
rejuvenation and improvement of community, society, state and the world with thoughtful and
idealistic vigour, action plans and activities; lack of foresight, co-ordination and other facts of
institutional, public, party and systemic misunderstanding and failure, acute international
conspiracy etc. had paved the way to neutralize the impact and acceptance of socialism at the end
of the eighties of the twentieth century.

What socialism has given to the world is a matter of discussions, debates, consideration and
understanding of different categories of people and groups where it’s important to note that the
impact of socialism is evident in the different schools of thoughts, in the world policies of
progress and development, in the burning and peaceful protest of the conscious people and
working class in the streets and in the capitalistic framework of factories and other institutions.

The lavish dream of materializing a classless society based on equity, equality and justice
rendering the people especially the proletariats and working class into an exploitation-free,
oppression-free society remains unfulfilled where the defeated, exhausted and saddened
comrades tend to leave their skins to cope up with the ever-compromising triumphant bourgeois
with rejuvenated situation, circumstances and enthusiasm.
