ABSTRACT.

The pollution of rivers, broken and other existing water sources in the municipality of Saldaña, it's
a problem that has been going on for many years, harming the quality and amount of water due to
agricultural activities, domestic and industrial that citizens carry out contributing to the
contamination of water by different waste or plastic solid waste, bottles, icopor, cardboard, metal
bottles and plastic bags agrochemicals or food products after being consumed or used by farmers
in the cultivation of rice on their farms and these products go to the water bodies, water sources,
river Saldaña, to the Magdalena River and finally to the Sea where it affects aquatic biodiversity.

According to the applied methodology it is approached from the academy by the Universidad
Popular del Cesar in the environmental education line and sustainable development and the sub-
line Community Environmental Development seeks to develop research and knowledge
production processes based on community practices related to environmental development, with
a type of descriptive research with a mixed qualitative approach in the identification of the
environmental problems presented in the municipality's water sources, applied in the population
of the municipality of 17,900 inhabitants, with a selection of the sample in the direct observation
application, with the collection of field observation information, information gathering and
preparation of the qualitative type proposal will allow the execution of search of a solution with
the whole community to the problem of pollution produced by high levels of plastic and bottles
and the importance of water sources in the Municipality of Saldaña Tolima.

Finally, through the identification of conservation strategies and proposed solutions in designing
and implementing this research, it will allow the recovery of water sources or micro-basins, which
will be visualized in an intervention proposal through education, eco-pedagogical and eco-
environmental outlets to water sources that present problems and with recycling days, will be the
key instruments to achieve the proposed objectives of commitment of self-control actions and
responsibilities of collective interest, because water is one of the richest and most indispensable
resources that our municipality, department and country has. That know how to value it and keep
it for future generations.
