9. General Information
Civil Related Clarifications:
Geotechnical testing has not been done on the existing materials under 7th
Avenue or in the SHSS parking area, nor will it be done by the owner prior to
contract award. We are unaware of any geotechnical testing done by the City on
adjacent portions of 7th Avenue. The Contractor should assume all materials
removed will not be reusable to a standard suitable to meet the specifications on
Drawing 3003-G1. However, if it is discovered in the field that any of the existing
materials are reusable, and their reusability can be proven to the Contract
Administrator; they may be reused. And note that as stated in the Backfill
paragraph on the drawing it is the responsibility of the Contractor to confirm with

testing, paid for by the Contractor, that the backfill and compaction is as
specified.
We mentioned a traffic control plan would need to be submitted to the City when
7th Avenue is being trenched. Presently the City of Castlegar does not have a
specific traffic control bylaw so each situation is reviewed on a case by case basis,
once the traffic control plan is submitted. (See attached form for Excavating
Permit Application). Ready (BC) has discussed possible plans with the City. 7th
Avenue is recognized as a collector and can be a busy street, however with the
elimination of school traffic during the summer, traffic volumes will be greatly
reduced, and approval of a reasonable plan will be considered. The ideal situation
would be to do half the street at a time, but if time can be minimal and
emergency traffic could be routed through the SHSS parking area with normal
traffic behind the school, the City may consider a full street closure if proposed.
(Note that the main industry in this block is 3 schools and a church). It will be up
to the successful Contractor to have their traffic control plan approved by the
City.
This form is to be completed in full and submitted with all requested information to:
