Sarah Evans, Special Education Director What is MTSS? - PaTTAN’s definition: “a broad set of evidence-based practices that may be implemented across a system to include Academics AND Behavior within a recursive and systematic problem-solving process.” - EEACS practices MTSS in that behavior and academics are supported for ALL students based on a tiered system. - Very similar to Rti, but focuses on all students instead of just the struggling students RtI and PBIS with MTSS From Edmentum.com The Three Tiers of MTSS MTSS to Special Education Process ● Struggling students are referred via Child Study Meetings using the MTSS model ○ Child Study Meetings meet grade wide to discuss struggling students at least twice per quarter ● Once students have been in Tier 3, with no success, special education testing is discussed ● Students need to go through the process in MTSS prior to being tested for an IEP Special Education Testing and Processes Parent Give a PTE form 60 calendar days Requests Present ER to within 10 days to to test and Testing team. parent produce ER Or CST makes a referral
