INTRODUCTION

EXPERT CHOICE 2000

Expert Choice is a decision-making software that is based on the concept of multi-
criteria decision making. Expert Choice implements the Analytic Hierarchy Process
(AHP) and has been used in the fields of manufacturing, environmental management,
shipbuilding and agriculture. The software also helps in conducting sensitivity
analysis which provides us with a notion of how our decision would change by
assigning different values to the nodes.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

PQR Company is an FMCG manufacturer which is currently planning to invest in

anyone of three types of projects. They are stated as

1. Introduction of low cost sanitizer (Product Variety)

2. Develop a new product for babies & infants (New product line)
3. Expansion of production capacity for Mineral Water (Capacity Building)

With this we start our decision-making process using Expert Choice 2000

 Our ratings are based on the general perception that people hold of the above-
mentioned zones, based on current:
o Economic Scenario
o Political Scenario
o Social Scenario
 PQR has no other manufacturing facilities located elsewhere.

The factors that are considered to be influencing PQR’s prioritization decision are: -

Having assigned our values corresponding to each of the factors and sub factors, the results
that we obtained with regards to the factors which are to be given the most importance and
those which are to be given the least importance are as follows:

 Project performance is the primary decider with impact value of .395

 Next is, Cost & Operational efficiency with an impact value of .232 each

Therefore, we will go ahead with “Low cost sanitizer” under product

variety.
