Unit 5 WHY: Be aware that individuals (and perhaps the world) are capable of change, which
helps us relate to and think deeply about texts and statements about life. The idea is to apply this
knowledge to our actions, our life paths, and our world view.
Unit 5 WHAT: Scholars will analyze the idea of redemption in a variety of texts and media (to
include expository/informational selections, TED Talks, documentary, etc.) and explore the
complexities of forgiveness, hope, and salvation.
