Instructions:
For students:
– Before you fly, get all the dental treatment you need, as it is extremely costly in USA.
– Buy 3 pieces of check-in luggage. Good quality is a must. Must comply to TSA Regulations.
– Things to be carried on person/in hand luggage while flying:
[a] MONEY
– Approximately $100-150 in cash. Carry $1 notes for airport trollies and tips and quarters to use pay phones.
– Approximately $1000 in Forex Cards or DD payable to Self.
– A credit card with a balance of $200-250.
– Always carry all of this on you and not in luggage.
[b] DOCUMENTS
All originals and 1-2 copies.
Passport size photographs.
[c] Medicine for air sickness.
[d] Jacket, as you will be in a fully air conditioned area for 20+ hours.
[e] Recreational material like books and magazines for traveling.
[f] Things you would need to survive for a week in case of loss of baggage.
– DO NOT procrastinate shopping or packing until the last minute.
– Label all your baggage, both inside and outside, with your name, local and international address and contact
number.
– Reach out to a senior when you land, get all the information you need and ask them what is to be done next. Inform
your parents via e-mail etc. from any airport.
For parents:
– Book flights as early as possible to get the best deals.
– Please DO NOT compromise on the quality and quantity of the shopping list. Trying to save a buck here will end up
costing your child an exorbitant amount for something that cannot be done without, leaving them helpless in an alien
nation.
– The shopping may look extremely exhaustive, but we strongly suggest that you think of this as an investment in
your child and own future.
ALL THE BEST AND CHEERS!
