I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:


1.Distinguish the features of literary and academic writing.
2. Differentiate literary and academic writing.
3. Write a simple paragraph choosing between academic and literary writing.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

b. Materials: Printed Visuals Aids.
c. Reference: Learning Package p.26
III. PROCEDURE: Picture Talk:

Activity: Directions: Read the Following Text:

Example:
Global Warming is a serious threat to Earth, causing many harmful effect on the
environment and the ozone layer which protect Earth from harmful sun’s rays.

 Literary Writing - is inspired, artistic and entertains with word, concepts and deep meaning.

 Fictional and Imaginative
 Entertaining, Provocative and Captivating
 Artistic, Figurative, Symbolic or even Vague
 Generalized Vocabulary

Example:

The Dessert

Application: Present samples of different Literary and Academic text. Then let the students identify
whether its literary or academic writing.

IV. Evaluation
Directions
Identify the sentences below whether it is Literary Writing or Academic Writing. Write LW if
it is Literary Writing and AW if it is Academic Writing.
