Universal Design for Learning (UDL): For our lesson we are going to learn about cell structure and organelles.
The aim of the class is for the students to learn about different organelles and their functions. I will use a
PowerPoint to teach my students. I will then engage the students and talk a little bit more about organelles so
I can help them if they are struggling to understand a particular organelle. Socrative will then be used by me
to assess my students’ knowledge and engage with them.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity. Prior to the activity, I will introduce the students to cell structures and organelles using a
PowerPoint. I will then ask the students if they were struggling with a particular organelle. If they were
struggling, I will review that organelle until everyone is ready to go. I will then present them with this activity.

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: After a short PowerPoint, students will be
given 10-15 minutes to complete the SRT. They can use their phones, computers, or tablets to complete the
assignment at their own pace. I will continually walk around and engage with the students while receiving
instant feedback from Socrative on their progress. This is just an opportunity for me to see how much they
have learned and analyze the areas the students are struggling. I will then use this knowledge to change my

instructions accordingly. If my students struggled with a particular organelle or had difficulty in another area, I
will happily go over and review the issue.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? After the activity, I will see if we need to review a
particular organelle or any other knowledge. We will talk about the correct answers and explain why they are
the right choice.

How will the data be used? The data that will be collected because of this activity will be used to enhance the
lesson. This activity made to assess where the students are at and if they are struggling with a specific topic.
No grade will be awarded. Each student’s answer to the last two question will be shared with their peers. I
will go over all the other questions to make sure we all understand the concepts.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. My personal learning goal for this activity is to get
students interested in cells and their organelles. I want them to enjoy the lesson.

Reflective Practice: I believe the activities I have chosen will make my students enjoy learning about cells. All
living things are made out of cells which is why this topic is very interesting. To further enhance the lesson,
we will use PowerPoint which will contain a movie about cells.
