TITLE OF THE PROPOSAL: To use image processing techniques for defogging, rain and/or haze
removal using surround view camera system in automobiles.
_________________________________________________________________________________
The automotive surround view camera system is an emerging automotive ADAS (Advanced Driver
Assistance System) technology that assists the driver in parking the vehicle safely by allowing
him/her to see a top-down view of the 360 degree surroundings of the vehicle. Such a system
normally consists of four to six wide-angle (fish-eye lens) cameras mounted around the vehicle, each
facing a different direction. From these camera inputs, a composite view of the surroundings of the
vehicle is synthesized and shown to the driver in real-time during parking. Fog, rain and haze
removal in real time images captured from the fish eye cameras could lead to increased safety and
simplicity for mankind.

SIGNIFICANCE AND INNOVATION: There are various image processing techniques that use different
algorithms for better outputs that are related to the original low visibility and blur images.
Innovation and improvisation techniques are needed for developing advance control systems.
GOALS – Our research project would involve various minor goals excluding major broad goals which
are –
Developing a 360 degree surround view monitor system by using an optimum real time
image stitching method.
Implementation of an efficient algorithm for fog, rain and/or haze removal in the images.
